I don't want a back five, but I think we might see it, but maybe not.

A few days ago I didn't think Pepe would start on Saturday, but after Emery bringing him on so early this week I do think we'll see him start. That's several weeks of training with the team now, and he seems ready.

As for an entire starting eleven...let me ponder.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

I find it interesting how our transition play looked against Burnley, with Willock operating deeper and getting the ball where a more traditional midfielder would get it, but as soon as we broke offensively he'd move centrally behind the duo of Lacazette/Aubameyang. If this is how we operate moving forward I'd be interested to see Ozil would drop that far back to get the ball or if he'll stay central and drift at the top of the two midfielders.

As far as Liverpool, I think we stick with a similar formation, though we may try and long ball through their press instead of trying to pass out of it, though with Luiz and Sokratis I feel a bit more comfortable trying to pass out of the press.

Luiz is error prone, but he's still very good at passing, and should help us against the teams we should beat, I'd expect him to get beat by Liverpool's attack at least once or twice though.

Also, in what I hope will be a reoccurring theme, Eddie Nketiah scored for Leeds.

            Okay, here's my official prediction:

The exact same team that started against Burnley, but Pepe starts in place of Nelson.

In unsurprising news, Emery has seemingly told Mustafi and Elneny that their futures are elsewhere. I honestly think Mustafi will go on to be a good defender somewhere that isn't Arsenal, and as I've said before I've got a soft spot for Elneny simply because he does love the club so much. Elneny at the very least I could see running down his contract and just leaving on a free unless Emery feels the need to demote him/humiliate him in other ways

Smith-Rowe and Holding turning out for the U23s in the PL2 tonight. Smith-Rowe looks to be in the midfield with John-Jules, Saka, Balogun, and Coyle appear to be the main attackers

Agreed. Anything’s gotta be better than last trip to Anfield lol.

This team feels like it actually has a backbone. We may not come away with 3 points, but I’ll be very surprised if we get embarrassed.

Same! I'm so eager to see the squad—I want us to really have a go at it. I don't want recklessness, but I don't want timidness, either.

If Arsenal does the unthinkable it will be the first time since 04-05 they won the first 3 matches.

Also, since Monreal has an alleged offer from Sociedad, I’d expect to see Kolasinac starting.

I'm ready to watch a 4-0 loss just to remind us how far behind we are in the title race.

I really, really hate this. Kola has shown he can not play in a back four, and we should not change what we know can work due to one player's ineffectiveness.

As I said in the league thread, if they score four, we score two.

It'll be very interesting to see how/if Klopp adjusts. Auba putting pressure on an uneasy Adrian could spell trouble. Their fullbacks pushing forward and our ability to play balls from deep onto fast players could also spell trouble.

We have the capability in attack to hurt them, especially as they've not yet played as well as they can. I'm not saying we come out with three points, but I don't see them scoring four on us without us grabbing a few in return.

I'm also glad we're going to Anfield now in week three and not later in the season once they're rolling. It's the best time for us to be going there, I think.
