Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
re-watching the game, and **** i just wish we could sell Mhki. I remember being excited about his initial arrival assuming that coaching was a factor in his downfall at Man Utd, and he has a pretty good start to his Arsenal career, but man, his passing was measurably off the mark against Newcastle, and it wasn't even his passing from under pressure. Wiloock was more composed and fought harder than Mhki which is both encouraging and depressing.
On the flip side, Willock, Chambers, Nelson were all better than I had originally graded them out to be, particularly Chambers positioning and ability to suss out a pass. He didn't have a great number of interceptions but he did a wonderful job of positioning himself so that the pass wouldn't even be made.
Finally, lock up Maitland-Niles, hardly put a foot wrong, and is still playing outside of his preferred position.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Looks like we're on an October timetable, Bellerin, Tierney, and Mavropanos all expected to be back in full training by October.
Holding is back in full training, appropriate timeline appears to be end of this month, early September for first team action. I imagine I'll be watching him with the U23s for the next few weeks.Support Local Sports

Even if Kola is available, I still think Monreal starts. I wouldn't mind seeing Ozil playing through balls to Pepe, though.Comment

No Holding in the starting 11 for Arsenal's U23s, maybe he'll make the bench for the weekend? Smith-Rowe starting, as well as Coyle, Balogun, and John-Jules. (Bola and Olowu are also starting, for the defensive prospects)Support Local Sports

JUST saw the tweet that Holding wasn’t listed. Yeah eaglet thought it’s cause maybe he will be on the bench tomorrow, but then realized it’s more so likely because he just played 60 on Monday.

Loving the sheet again today. Willock and Nelson with another run out.
Bummed Pepe not starting but trusting UE to play (start) him when ready...

Feel the same, also excited to see Ceballos start. I don't think Pepe starts until the NLD.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Watching Ceballos with the ball at his feet in our own third, and playing it out of our own third shows you immediately how players other than our defenders can improve our defense this year.
Our midfield must help our defense by not leaving them in dangerous situations, and a player like Ceballos seems primed to do that.Comment

You guys have some really good passers back there now with Luiz, Gendouzi, and Ceballos. PEA making those runs out wide is going to scare a lot of folks.”

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
What the **** is Guendouzi doing in the box with Sokratis nowhere in sight? In general, I am not sure what the hell we've been trying to do defensively in terms of positioning—it makes no sense.
We're going to give up a headed goal at this rate, also, as we seem entirely incapable to deal with Burnley's obvious strategy.
I know it was after a corner, but seeing Luiz and Sokratis both down the left flank threatening a cross is ****ing insanely stupid.
Not even Ceballos' ability to play out of danger can account for our lack of understanding of how to defend against these orcs.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Do you know what's weird? I think there's this myth that Burnley are a bogey team for us and that we struggle against them—that's hilariously false.
We've now defeated them eleven straight times—ten of those in the league, one in the FA Cup. The last time we drew against them, in 2009, was before the eleven straight wins.
We've never lost to them in the Premier League, and the only time we've lost to them since they were sniffing around the Premier Leauge was in 2008 in the League Cup, while they were still in the Championship.
We own them, basically.Comment

So how do you set the team up for Liverpool? I’d like to see anything but a back 5.
I also have a sneaky suspicion that Pepe starts which would be a nice trio up top.
