Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I give Pepe a pass on that only because of how we’ve been forcing him to play, giving him the ball and taking on four defenders, etc.
He missed a sitter, but it’s not like we’ve gotten him in that position frequently...at all.Comment

I guess I missed how that was a yellow on Saka, thought the run of play was fine, I don't think there was enough contact for a penalty, but also he was off balance so him going to the ground was fairly warranted.
whatever, i guess, at least i already knew we'd lose to Sheffield UnitedSupport Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
It was yellow because Mike Dean has to be the star—it's that simple.
If he can't give a penalty, why not book a player for diving when it was not at all a dive?
There was first a trip/contact on the foot, then body to body contact.
If it's not a penalty, fine, but it's nowhere close to punishment for simulation.Comment

Pepe’s inability to do ANYTHING with that right foot is a massive worry.
He missed that sitter because he used his left foot. Easy as you like with the right foot.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I kind of get resting Tierney and Bellerin, and waiting til they are 100%/100%, the demands we put on our fullbacks is quite large, and as they both had leg injuries, it makes sense to be cautious.
That said, Holding should be starting instead of one of the two current starters, and that's just not even very debatable. We don't demand a lot of centreback movement and he's a better passer than Sokratis, and less prone to mistakes than Luiz.
I refuse to accept this. I believe all of them have played 90 recently, they’ve just had two weeks “off”, they need to be playing.
Guendouzi has been brilliant as always.
No service to Auba (not surprised due to team sheet).
Chambers solid defending, poor going forward (see above, need Bellerin).
Pepes 1 dimension very worrying.

Pepe will be fine. Don’t forget that the entire move was originally set up by him deep in our own half. Not many other players in the squad could’ve done what he did to start the move.
I can’t wait to hear our captain say we were scared to start the match.Comment

In other news, I'm a bit thankful that the NBC Sports webapp sucks so ****ing much. Because now I don't need to watch this anymore. Also at this point, Emery needs to show why he deserves to keep his job, because my faith is approximately 0 right now. I knew we'd lose to Sheffield United, they have a plan. It seems as though since Decemberish last year we don't have a plan anymore, it started so well, and then we've just devolved into a shambolic 10 men on the pitch wandering about.
My worst fear at this point is the board going through another hiring process and us ending up with someone who also won't get it.Support Local Sports

So, that came from James Benge—if we choose to believe it is fact, it’s also important to note he said that Emery feels Kola has done nothing to lose his place.
My point—I don’t believe Emery holds back on bringing in certain players when they return from injury due to fitness. I think he has his own, ridiculous tactical reasons for not wanting to bring in better players.
If Holding, Bellerin, and Tierney have all been set as not ready to start today by the medical staff, great, I’m not against that.
I’m against Emery leaving them out if they’re cleared to go. My issue is not with return from injury protocol, it’s with Emery’s weak decisions.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
At least everyone will be fit for our climb up the table. Glad we are holding them out to 100% while we perform like absolute trash.
I too have zero confidence in Emery. He clearly doesn’t value the league as is evident by these shocking team sheets. He has won Europa. That’s his baby. I’m sure the kids will play Thursday and it will be as smooth as it always is. Then of course none of them will be fit for the weekends league match, and the cycle continues.
The only “tactical identity” we have is playing out the back and that burns us FAR more than it benefits us. I am sick of it. I am sick of not enjoying the football on the pitch. It’s boring and feels like we are holding on for dear life against nearly everyone we play (in the league at least).
We don’t start a creative midfielder and we are DREADFUL in the first half. Ceballos comes on and instantly a different side. Shocker!!!!! No özil? WTF does emery think he does in training? Pick his nose?
Yeah. I’m hot.

It's hard for me to be fired up, because I know no one behind the scenes at Arsenal is fired up, just seems like a waste of energy at this point.Support Local Sports
