Lol, but on another note if they are now triggering his release clause why did they wait so long. I understand they were trying to sell players first but man this has gone on for a while.Comment

I think the game changed a bit when there was no chance at getting Aouar.
Edit: Guendouzi to Hertha Berlin is official.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I can't lie, IF it gets done I love the idea of surprising Atletico, as if reports are true, they didn't think we'd trigger the clause and were confident in him staying.
I also love the decisiveness it shows from the Arsenal hierarchy. Negotiating for something below the clause was fine, as they were trying to get the best deal possible or at least not pay everything at once. Plus, it was clear Atletico did not want to lose him.
So, the willingness to say "No, we want to sign him." and trigger the clause is the kind of attitude I have not seen from Arsenal in...well, ever?
Hopefully it gets done, will be a big boost to the midfield.Comment

A year too late on the loan, I feel, but hopefully he can make something of himself there so he can pull an Elneny, or be sold when he comes back.Support Local Sports

Yeah this is looking like it’s going to happen.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I don't know exactly why, but I love that after we tried negotiating we ended up triggering the clause, without even telling Atletico we were doing so.
If (if) reports are true, Arsenal notified La Liga which is all they're obligated to do, and they were the ones who informed Atletico he was leaving.
I think I love it because it signals a more ruthless (?) approach in terms of transfers? We attempted to sign him, negotiate, etc. They didn't negotiate with us on Torreira and only wanted a loan. Fine, but now it's deadline day and we're triggering the clause, nice attempting to do business with you.
Yes, they get a load of cash, but I'm sure they'd rather have the player or the cash + time to replace.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Oh yeah, I know why I love it, because after Torreira was set to go to Italy on either a permanent deal or a loan+obligation to buy Atletico decided they wanted him (only on loan) and Simeone called Torreira personally, apparently. This made Torriera refuse any move to Italy, which essentially took money away from us.
So glad we triggered the clause. It's nice to see the club have a strategy and backbone.Last edited by Krebstar; 10-05-2020, 03:12 PM.Comment
