He’s the poachiest poacher. I love it.

Goals scored from outside the six are for suckers.

I'm fine with that—he was one of the most at fault for the Vardy goal, because he still hasn't figured out how to switch on, cover space, or sense a threat from an opponent and he's been playing professionally for years.

As Arseblog said—despite the inexperience, I'd much rather see someone like Saliba in there, learning and making those mistakes than watch Mustafi continue to embarrass himself.

            Gabriel only cost £27m.

Solid win, lads. Three points that were desperately needed.

Gabriel could have very easily been sent off with about 20 mins left, but since he was already on a yellow, the referee did the thing where his 2nd yellow card offense was only called a foul.

He also fouled Matic in the penalty area in the 84th minute, which went uncalled. I thought that deserved a 2nd look.

But yeah, he had a good game for sure, no doubt about that.

The foul near the byline, on the far side of the goal? It was a foul, that's it. I didn't see anything in it that made it a yellow. He made contact with the player while trying to win the ball, but it was just a foul.

I think too often when a player is on a yellow we're too quick to judge every single foul they then commit.

If it was a foul, I don't think it was a yellow. (Edit: I'm an idiot, it would've been a penalty, of course. Just watched it again—he trapped Matic's foot a bit, but also cleanly won the ball. Maybe a bit lucky, but still a fantastic tackle.)

Honestly, if United tried half as hard to create a goal as they did complaining about someone defending them tight while on a card, maybe they would've scored.

Seriously, I think the issue is how everyone expects a player on a card to not do a damn thing. Gabriel didn't do that—he didn't let the early card (which was definitely a card) stop him from playing tight and attempting to make plays.

An early yellow shouldn't punish a player for all further fouls that are not worthy of a booking.

If the complaint is he's on a yellow, but keeps fouling so he should be shown a second, I think that's also absurd as it's not as if he was running around hacking people down all match. During the restart a Brighton player fouled an Arsenal player ten times before receiving his first yellow, so I'm fine with finally being on the end of some leniency.

His 2nd foul that should have been a yellow was from behind and almost certainly would have drawn a yellow if he wasn’t already on one. You can see the ref thinking about it as he strides over.

Was it this? Because that's the one that had tons of fuss surrounding it. I just..don't see it. Yes, it's a clear foul, but how the hell is that a yellow card?

Oh, I know, because the player was already on a yellow so every foul committed after regardless of the severity means it could see them off? Madness.

If it's another one, I don't know what other tackle caused so much needless debate.

LOL, no it's not because he's on a yellow. It's because he gets beat, grabs Greenwood from behind by the arm, and steps on his foot from behind, all while not even being close to getting the ball. This kind of foul gets called a yellow card quite a lot.

Look, I didn't come in here to start something. Just pointing out what I saw. I'm glad you were able to pile the misery on United because we have to hear about how they're "back" every time they get a good result.

I forgot to link the tweet, but yeah we're talking about the same one.

                        Renewed thoughts.

                        1. I hadn't seen that replay angle, so I couldn't tell if he got his foot or not.
                        2. He got somewhat close to the ball.
                        3. He got lucky, it's not as close as I thought.
                        4. **** Man United.
                        5. Gabriel still had a great match, despite being lucky to stay on.

Yeah, he did have a good match. I thought it was one of the more entertaining 1-0s you could get. Arsenal pretty much played keep-away for large parts of the match and missed so many chances that I thought for sure they were going to lose 1-0 on some kind of shenanigans.

United did put up quite a push for the equalizer. Leno was spared one of the more hilariously unlucky own goals by the post. If that went in, it'd be on the blooper reels for years to come.

First time since 2015 Arsenal went to the house of one of the big boys and took 3 points. 5, almost 6 years.

Looking at the table pre-Villa: A draw or win don't move us too far up the table in terms of position, but these are points we must win if we're remotely serious about sneaking into fourth (still think that's highly unlikely) or staying in Europe.
