Yes, we'll be in a good financial position in the future, but we're also IN ONE NOW. We're also currently out of the top 4 with a squad that's crying for another striker up top, and this goes unaddressed. I remember Arsene saying two summers ago that if we didn't win a trophy, he would have to start spending money. Instead, he sold Cesc and Nasri. Next summer, he sold RVP and Song. I would like to think that none of the principal players in our current squad will be sold this summer, and that instead we can add to what we have, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the club once again continued the trend and turned another transfer window profit.

We've had money to spend for awhile, those in charge keep insisting they will spend, and now it's time for them to literally put their money where their mouth is.
That is my number 1 one problem with this club right now. They say one thing and do the complete opposite. It's the same thing every transfer period. At the beginning Wenger says he is going to spend money to strengthen the side and everyone gets excited then about a week or two before the window closes you hear the whole we just can't find the quality player bull****.

It's gotten to the point where I feel like they are insulting our intelligence. As the old saying goes... fool me once shame on you... fool me twice shame on me. Except in this case we as a fan base have been fooled about 10 times.

honestly who do you think we could have gotten this transfer window? I know everyone wants someone else up front, but lets be honest scoring goals this year hasnt been our problem.

I assume villa was our big target, but barca wasn't selling. Then ask yourself how badly did we need him? he would probably play on the wing which we could use some depth, but do we do it at the expense of podolski and walcott? with what we would be expecting to pay villa, is the cost worthwhile using him primarily as a rotational player ? wouldnt it make more sense to bring someone of little lower quality whom we can pay less money to sit the bench 3 out of 4 games or so ? but substitutes in regularly.

to me i felt we need work on our defense. Bring in someone who can compete for a starting position in our back four. I like monreal and think this is a great move over the long run. However I think we could have brought another fullback in on loan to help over the rest of this season. others have mentioned a veteran keeper, I think that was also a great idea.

David Villa would NOT be a rotational player at Arsenal. He would probably be the second or third name on the team sheet whenever he was available.

The added depth would be worth it.

yeah we need depth but i dont think at the cost of villa. just someone who can play from the bench most games and start maybe 1 out of 4 games. doesnt have to be young player, arshavin would be perfect if he wasnt so unproductive.

If we want to be a top club, we're going to need real quality on the bench.

Of course Arshavin would be perfect if he wasn't so awful. Mannone would be a great keeper if he wasn't so terrible.

I don't think many of us (I don't) want a billionaire to fund the club. We just want the club to spend that money they keep saying they have.

What we've managed to do with the stadium and the future with the Emirates sponsorship is fantastic for the club, but only if the club uses it to elevate the club as winners, and not just a global brand that competes.

We want the club to spend its money, not someone else's money.

It wouldn't be a huge upgrade but it would bring some competition. It's easy to start feeling comfortable when you see guys like Arshavin and Santos on the bench. Not saying you said this but I'm so sick of the whole don't sign player A because he might hinder the development of player B.

                  Competition is a good thing.

Nacho will start today. Shows just how much Arsene knows Santos sucks.

Starting XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Diaby, Arteta, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Giroud.

Well done, lads. It is not easy to score on that side, but they got what they deserved.

The fire that Jack Wilshere plays with is great. After Arteta's great tackle on Owen, and Owen retaliating against Arteta, Wilshere stepping in and shoving Owen away made me smile. Then it made me worry, as the kid has too much fire sometimes, but its something we need in this squad. Especially when we play teams like Stoke.

Also, Ryan Shawcross proves he's still a massive prick. 50/50 ball, and two players slide in. Koscielny goes in which his legs bent, clearly attempting to sweep the ball away. Shawcross goes in studs first, slamming into Koscileny.

**** you, Shawcross. You are that kind of player.

And with Chelsea just losing to Newcastle, we're only five points out of third.

3 points are three points, regardless of the scoreline. I will enjoy sporting my Wilshere shirt today.

Jack Wilshere is amazing isn't he, haven't caught as much Arsenal games as I would like this season but every time I watch this kid play he makes me smile. Arsenal defence still scares me though.

We looked good today, but that is due to Stoke choosing not to attack.

Monreal looked good out there, although he didn't have to do much. But in attack he fit right in and seemed comfortable.

Shawcross is a piece of ****. He's lucky Kosc didn't get badly injured from that tackle. And it doesn't help that Tony Pulis, also a piece of ****, says that while Owen's reaction was unfortunate, he was reacting to a terrible Arteta challenge. Right, just keep excusing your players for their thuggish behavior. They're "not like this" at all, even if they keep doing this repeatedly. Right.

I haven't watched it since, but I recall Arteta's tackle being damn near perfect. Maybe slightly physical, but nothing more than what Pulis instructs his squad to do.
