Seriously, it’s most likely part of a larger overhaul with the academy and reserves. I’m sure it’s time. Plus, the U23 squad had horrible results this season.

In no particular order, because all should be done.

      1. Bring back Willock
      2. Sign Ödegaard
      3. Bring back Saliba
      4. Sign a young LB for cover
      5. Sign a young RB for cover

I would cash in on Willock. Not sure he’s good enough for Arsenal.

Would rather have the dude from Norwich whose name escapes me.

We just finished 8th. He’s good enough for us. He’s a goal threat from midfield, works hard, and is essentially what we’ve been missing since Ramsey left. Runs from midfield and arriving late into the box.

I’d much rather have Ødegaard than Buendia in terms of creativity, but Willock fills a different role than both of them.

Would also have been in Europe if all of the dodgy VAR decisions went in Arsenals favor.

Massive changes are needed. Thankfully no European fixtures either.

I know it sounds weird but I’m kind of looking forward to just looking ahead to mostly weekend matches. No Thursday/Sunday nonsense, Saturday matches, not seeing players injured in Europa League group games, etc.

It’ll be different, and different isn’t awful. However…with no European matches the pressure actually goes up on Arteta to make the team produce in the league.

                    All fair points.

I wonder how much not having European football actually affects recruitment for a club the size of Arsenal.

There’s also the glass half full approach of wanting to be part of the reason they get BACK to Europe.

I think having an actual preseason and no European football will be a plus—for a season.

It will definitely hurt, but as we've seen in the past many seasons, players also want to play. So, Arsenal even without European football could be enticing due to knowing you could walk into their midfield, defense, etc instead of splitting time or not making the match day squad.

Our outgoings are going to be so crucial. Willian looks set to leave, but will Xhaka remain? Lacazette? Elneny? There's so many that are not entirely obvious that could go either way.

Get busy, Edu. None of this waiting until the deadline nonsense.

Just out of the ones you've mentioned, the only one I'd miss is Elneny. This isn't an endorsement for him to stay, but he is everything I generally want from a player, simply loves the club and works his *** off when given the chance. More people like that, but with more abilities, can't be a bad thing for the club.

He's an odd one as he's entering the last year of his contract, so something has to be done. With fewer matches, I'd rather see a new signing plus youth take his spot in the squad. His presence, when starting, far too often feels like a physical embodiment of an over reliance on safety and dull, lifeless football that builds a horseshoe around the opposition box looking to score the perfect goal that will never come.

I wouldn't be annoyed if he stayed, though, but I've had enough Xhaka in my life. I don't care that he has the most passes into the final third in the league, that's due to his positioning, not his skill. He essentially cost us both matches against Burnley, and that is enough for me to want it to be over.

Romano reporting that Xhaka is indeed wanted elsewhere. If Arteta talks him into staying, again, he should go with him.

But seriously, I don't think he'll want to stay if he knows he could go.

I think it'll be good for Xhaka and Arsenal fans to have Xhaka leave the club, he'd never be given a fair shot to resurrect his image with the fans. Shame he never really worked out, remember being very excited about signing him from Gladbach as he had a reputation as a good defensive midfielder that could splay passes forward and start counters with ease, turned into the FM equivalent of a midfielder that is very good but simply does not fit the system you want to keep running.

Could you imagine THAT dressing room dynamic?
