Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Also, nobody was clamoring for Leno. Nobody. Emi's stock was insanely high, so the club made a great deal of £20m for a keeper who until that point was either a third or second-choice keeper.
Buying Ramsdale for anything that's being discussed is insane, but at the time, the club basically had to sell Emi, and they did so a much better job at it than they would've in the past.Comment

It is, but it's also important to remember everything surrounding that. Emi gave the club an ultimatum, essentially, and unless he was #1 he at best would've refused any future contract talks, etc.

I agree the money being thrown around for Ramsdale is insane. I’d rather see an academy product than Ramsdale at that price range.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
It still feels that too often the club seems to not have contingency plans.
For example, Ødegaard is not available it seems, but what's the alternate? It seems the club do not now, and are only still waiting on him to be available.
David Raya, a player we bid on two or three times last Summer, was promoted with Brentford which removed the clause his his contract that would've allowed us to get him for cheap. It seemed that once he was off the table we had no idea what to do for a keeper.
I had a thought this week, and honestly, I'm starting to believe it. Edu will be sacked by the club before Arteta. He was lucky to stay when Raul was let go, and if Willian and Cedric stick around another season doing **** all, I can see the club being frustrated with how he's done business.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Here's an entirely alternate take on Ramsdale: If the club truly believes him to be Leno's successor whether that's later this season or next season, and they believe he has the skills to do so (let's be honest, he had a bad start last season but has been a solid keeper) then the fee might not be insane.
He's 23 right now. If you pay £30 or so now and he's the club's keeper for the next 8–10 years, that's not too bad at all. Yes, the fee sounds absurd now, but who knows where the market will be in a few years, or what his value could be then.
Just another way to view it. Ramsdale, similar to Ben White is very much a player they seem to think can stay and contribute at the club for many, many years, so it can be important to keep that in mind when considering fees. As Arsenal supporters, I think it's not easy to do that because there is a history under past leadership where we either buy players who are too old and will soon have diminishing value, or we make very poor decisions on transfers (Mustafi).Comment

Now they're saying 40m for Ramsdale. Can't imagine he'd ever live up to that pricetag.Support Local Sports

I think that is too much surely there are cheaper alternatives have they given up on Andre Onana also if there are looking for someone with potential they should move in Vandevoordt from Genk.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I don't think there's a chance Arsenal would pay £40m for Ramsdale. I think it has become incredible clear that Sheffield United are either trying desperately to double or close to the £18m they paid for him, or they've entered "**** off." territory with their valuation of the player. The same thing apparently happened between Brentford regarding David Raya. I heard it once put that we returned so many times to discuss a transfer that it was bordering on just being rude haha. They just kept saying no, or quoting an absurdly high price so we'd move on.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Would really love this, but honestly, we need to get outgoings happening and happening soon. I know there was a Euro, but our lack of progress at moving out players is, as usual, concerning and frustrating.
We have four players right now who could literally start at RB for us, although one looks set to leave, one who wasn't even good enough to fill in at LB for us last year is apparently impressing in preseason and now good enough to start at RB, on went on loan last year and doesn't want to be a fullback, and one is also a center back.
That's one of the many absurd squad issues we have right now.Comment

saw pictures from training that has Miguel Azeez with the number 36. Based on typical numbering conventions, it would appear as though he will be a first call-up from reserves this year if we need midfield help.Support Local Sports
