Joe is headed to Newcastle for £20m+ and considering there seems to be nowhere for him to fit into the squad based on how we set up last season, that's a fantastic deal. Honestly, it's the we wouldn't do in the past. We'd keep him, not play him, and then sell him next season for £5m after a January loan move doesn't work out.

I'm sure Eddie is up next—Palace, perhaps?

I think goal scoring is going to be an issue again unfortunately. I’d loved to be proven wrong though.

Krebs I think 8th is spot on.

It's frightening right now to look at the squad and wonder where the goals + creativity will come from. Yes, yes, wait until the end of the window they say...well, not buying it. It feels like we're about to have the same season all over again.

If goal scoring is going to be an issue then why get rid of the midfielder who actually scored a decent amount of goals last year on loan?

I’m disappointed they’re letting Willock go personally I think he should be getting a look in the team.

My glass half full approach is that they’re letting him go to secure the funds to make a move on someone else.

Surely I’ll be proven wrong (lol), but I can’t imagine they’d let a player like him go without being moderately confident in bringing in that creative midfielder we so desperately need.

                1. The system which he scored goals in is drastically than anything Arteta has played. I know, I know, he showed he can score goals, but still.

                2. The squad desperately needs to be trimmed, so £20m+ for an academy graduate makes sense, as you need to move on some players, and the **** ones are not going anywhere yet.

                3. I do believe the money will be reinvested. They're making that sale because they know it can help do more in the market. How much more, and what, who knows, but they're not selling and sitting.

                4. One of the biggest issues at Arsenal is not finishing, it's creating chances. I don't think Joe would help in chance creation as much as we need.

Arsenal as a club are still horrid at selling, and that's mostly down to being horrid at buying. But, I do appreciate that they've been able to make a few good sales, and I think it goes unnoticed quite often.

£35m for Oxlade-Chamberlain and £28m for Iwobi were both incredible sales for Arsenal, and honestly, I think Joe will be the same. I don't think he'll move to an even bigger club than Newcastle in a few years, and at that time he'll be remembered the exact same as Oxlade-Chamberlain and Iwobi—players who were moved on at the right time for a price that worked better for Arsenal than the buying club.

Here are some of my thouughts:

                      1. It's an insane price, but if they truly view him as their future #1, then it makes sense. Leno has shown no interest in renewing his contract and it's clear that he's inevitably on the way out. So, investing in someone you believe is your future #1 now makes sense.

                      2. He's not a bad keeper, and if you remove the English tax which is very, very real in a post-Brexit world, the price is a little easier to stomach.

                      3. We desperately need two solid keepers and right now we do not have that. It's a hole that must be filled.

                      4. It's an insane price.

                      5. But as long as they fill other holes in the squad, I don't care about the price. More so than ever, I think the club are actively trying to build for the future. In 2–3 years if Ramsdale is the starter and consistently puts in solid performances (which he has for years) then people will talk about how it was a pretty good price.

I truly believe that last point. Before anyone flies in here in a huff, I'm not having a go, I'm just talking about facts (unfolds paper).

Kepa cost £71m and Alisson cost £56m. Mendy cost £22m and if he was English, that would put him at more than Ramsdale will cost.

So, if Ramsdale is the starter in a few years or even late this year, it'll be talked about like it was solid transfer business from Arsenal.

What's not is keeping Xhaka and not booting him out the door once someone was willing to pay over £10m for him. There, just so you know it's still me.

Fair points. I just always rate goal scoring middies but you’re not going to get a better price than you would now and there are, like you said, more immediate positions to fill which leads to…

Is Ramsdale even good? I don’t remember anything remarkable about him.

The Arsecast had someone on who covers Sheffield United and he was rather high on him. The key is that he’s young—23 with several years of top-flight experience.

Honestly, I don’t think it happens. They don’t want to sell him, and I don’t think we pay what it’ll cost to convince them to.

I think we go with another loan, or a veteran and fill the spot in the Summer when Leno leaves.

                              Oh OK.

What are your thoughts on the Maddison rumors?

Surely a RB and another midfielder have to be the priorities right?

I don't get why you guys are dragging your feet on Aoar. Arteta wanted him last year at 55 mil and if he's available for 25 that seems like a no brainer. Him & a healthy Partey would make a nice double pivot if you guys go with one this year.

We have to offload players—we have four players right now that could start at RB tomorrow—literally.

                                Bellerin, Cedric, Chambers, AMN.

Until some sales happen, I think it’s a standstill.
