No new posts, so I know it's safe to look in here. I was up in time to watch the match, but didn't feel like watching live, so I'm waiting to watch in a bit.

Hopefully not an entire waste of my time.

Not a waste of time. Someone can laugh at this, I don’t care, but Manchester City escaped the Emirates today. They were there for the taking and just got away.

Very proud of the squad, even despite the mistakes.

But **** every single match official in England.

Yeah that was incredibly frustrating. Ødegaard definitely won a penalty.

Xhaka did Xhaka things (can’t give that a penalty if you didn’t give that at the other end. If there’s no penalty, Gabriel doesn’t get his first yellow.

At one point Arsenal had something like 11 fouls and 6 cards. City didn’t get their first yellow until well in the second half.

4th place trophy is on, that much I will say.

The entire football world is in agreement that Arsenal Football Club was robbed today.

It's not even up for debate—Ederson's foot went into Ødegaard's foot, not the ball—it's a clear and obvious penalty. See what I did there?

It sounds insane, but all you can extrapolate from that is that the VAR did not want to give a penalty there. You can't not see it, despite jokes about how awful officials are. They're making calls when they feel like it, and it becomes more obvious with each round of matches.

Also, apparently Gabriel's first yellow was given for dissent. You know, the card that an official can literally give whenever the **** they feel like it.

How about the ref screening Martinelli when he missed the sitter look that clip up.

                  Saw it, wish I hadn’t.

For context, I wish I hadn’t because holy hell it looks entirely intentional. First, why is he in the box at all? Think about how infrequently that happens. Two, why does he swerve into the path of a player?

We were playing a man down from kickoff.

Ive said it before and I know it sounds crazy, but when the inevitable match-fixing scandal breaks in England we really can’t be that surprised because we’ve been watching this nonsense for years, and I’ve thought this after many non-Arsenal games.

To b exact, it didn’t happen until Rodri took off his shirt.

Not a single yellow until then but that’s nothing new with City.

Roma have made a loan bid with an option to buy this Summer for AMN. I mean...if he's not going to get the minutes here, then make the deal, and build relations for a hopeful Xhaka exit this Summer, as well.

I’d make the deal on January 31st.

Well, rumors are suggesting that we'll be bringing in midfield cover, possibly via a loan. At most, Partey will only miss two league games during his absence.

AMN to Roma deal agreed—straight loan until Summer, no options.

“Arsenal FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following its Premier League game against Manchester City FC on Saturday [01/01/22].

It is alleged that Arsenal FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 59th minute and the club has until Friday [07/01/22] to respond.”

                              Unreal.

Great discussion on the Arsecast extra this week about how despite the league being global, the most watched, and incredibly diverse (including its English players), the PGMOL is essentially a closed cartel with no diversity and a majority of referees come from the same area of the country.

                                Sad.
