The key is that this was a very much expected bump in a difficult run-in, and that it does not undo what has come before, even though it continues to shed light on the issues.

A much needed (for some) smack of reality about where this squad is right now and will be for several more seasons.

I'm so glad Tierney played 180+ minutes for Scotland in two friendlies.

**** international football. I hate it more now than ever.

Xhaka at LB and Lokonga comes in the midfield.

It's like last year all over again...except this time we have an actual LB that we're not using there.

To be fair Tavares has been absolute **** lately. **** enough to drop him in favor of a midfielder playing out of position? I’m not sure.

The worrying thing to me is that if he's not good enough to be put in there now, then he shouldn't even be in the squad. That means he should be moved on in the Summer, or sent on loan, which would mean we'll need again to buy a fullback.

But we all already know (those of us who are sane and follow the team) that we're overachieving and going above expectations right now given the squad we have. We're still in the middle, at best, or rebuilding this squad to be truly competitive.

I type this as we're down 0-1 to Brighton, knowing there are some who were singing our praises weeks ago but will now mock or tease our dip in form when in reality, we're doing better than anyone would've thought we would be, whether that's supporters or those who jest without context.

Lastly, you'd think by now, Saka's experience with England would give him some 'protection' from officials, but nope, they'll just turn him into another player who is labeled as soft, dives, or should just expect to have the **** kicked out of him as he's targeted every match.

It doesn't even matter if he was offside—there's no proof of it—it's entirely inconclusive.

I don't care how many years it takes, I can't wait for The Athletic deep dive on the match fixing history in England. No, I'm not joking.

While the dream was nice, I knew it was never realistic, and we'd be absolutely slaughtered in the Champions League.

While I think it was positive this year we could focus on the league, that Europa League money is looking mighty nice again, and if we expand the squad slightly, we'll need more games for minutes to be passed around.

I predicted we'd finish 8th, and if something isn't done, that's still a very real possibility. Holding onto 6th is massively important now.

100% on board this whole Gabriel Jesus in the Summer chat—100%. He’ll have one year remaining on his contract, and I’m sure there’s already a relationship between him and Arteta.

Agreed bring him in. Could easily walk into a starting position. Him and Nketiah would be a nice rotation.

**** that—Eddie hasn't shown enough in the last year when given the opportunity, despite the last week. Let him go demand insane wages elsewhere, and bring someone else in.

He’s a homegrown player it would be foolish to let him walk.

I don’t think he’s worth what it will take. We’ve gotten to this point because the club’s evaluation doesn’t match his and his agents.

To me, letting him walk and not tying ourselves into another contract that benefits the player more than the club is not the level of ruthlessness needed. It’s time to move on—he seemingly decided that already.
