Also, is anyone else here done with Pedro?

With Cuadrado leaving, we can't really be done with Pedro. We've basically just got Willian and Hazard as wingers at that point.

No. Every Premier League match is on one of the NBC networks or one of the alternate channels that carries the NBC Live Extra overflow games. You'll just have to figure out where your provider stashes those channels.

It doesn't appear that tomorrow's League Cup match with Bristol Rovers is televised in the US though. Not even on tape delay.

Ah, that's what I figured but when I type Chelsea into search, nothing comes up. (Xfinity - unless they haven't figured it out what channel yet but never had issue before)

I'd like to move on from Pedro as well but like Brav said, apart from Moses we don't really have any cover if Cuadrado goes to Juve.

Allegedly Valencia will sell Mustafi to raise some cash to buy Pedro. If we get a bid of 30 mil euros I think we should do it and take our chances with either a loaned in winger, overpay for a backup (because Willian always beats out his replacements) or keep Kenedy/use Oscar there as a fill-in.

We've had a £30m bid rejected for Romagnoli and we're looking at Maksimovic from Torino as well as alternatives to Koulibaly. Napoli also looking at Maksimovic to replace Koulibaly.

I'd be ok with selling Pedro should we get £30m for him and keeping Kenedy to give him games as a backup. Moses, Hazard, Willian, Kenedy would be enough for this season with no Europe.

Willian's future is going to be interesting. He's perfect for the 4-2-3-1, especially Jose's version, because he's probably the best defensive wide midfielder in the world.

Eventually we will get a manager, and it might even be Conte, that actually wants wingers to score goals. I'm not saying I want him gone or anything, I love Willian, but he's not a goal-scorer and it's something that most modern wingers are expected to do.

I think he scored reasonably well at Shaktar, so maybe Conte can get some more goals and assists out of him. Hazard spent most of last season either injured or being awful, and still managed to equal Willian's production. Pedro, who most people think was underwhelming, doubled Willian's production.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what Conte does with this team.

Re: ***The Official Chelsea FC Thread***

I actually think Willian is just an average defender that makes up for his ball-watching with the willingness to run for days. I think he knows it too which is why he runs so much. It makes him appear like he's trying hard but really it's just making up for his poor positioning because he gets caught out too much.

I do think he's the 2nd best player BY FAR on our squad at transitioning the attack behind Eden. He's faster than Eden and he can really push the pace when the ball's at his feet. He played more centrally at Shakthar, or at least that's what I remember when he ran through us in the UCL (seemed like we bought ALL the players who destroyed us that year - Moses, Willian, Mo Salah).

Supposedly we have ~100mil euros (86 mil pounds) to do some last minute damage. To me CB is our top need followed by a winger if Pedro and/or Juan leaves.

Also, looks like some good rotation for this LC game. Batman, Cesc, RLC, and Ola all getting minutes. Wish I could catch it on TV.

Yeah Willian is one of our best players on the transition. Problem is his general decision making in the final third is atrocious for a player of his quality. So many attacks get to Willian at the edge of the box and just stop completely and end in a backward pass.

Actually, Hazard is similar in that regard. I saw a clip of Neville talking about Hazard in the West Ham game and how he always lets off the gas and never fully punishes his opponents later in the game when he has them by the throat.

Also, Michy is killing it so far.

Oh I agree 100%. Should have put that in my post. Willian's quality in front of goal, much like Hazard's is lacking. They'd both go up a tier if they were consistent in front of goal.

I watched that video too, Neville's by far my favorite pundit, and you could hear the frustrated coach speak in his voice as he broke down the film. Why Hazard didn't go at Byrum is beyond me. Kid should have been shaking in his boots.

Feels weird to be slumming it in the 2nd round of the League Cup, eh?

sadly we're quite used to that slumming feeling and if we don't buy a quality defender we will be employing the 13-14 Liverpool philosophy

The philosophy where you have a super fun season and finish 2nd? As you know it could be worse!

Maybe I've been a Chelsea fan too long, but I'd prefer a season of clean sheets and making everyone angry while finishing 1st
