We could always try using Kenedy as an actual winger.

He largely played RW/ second striker in Brazil. Considering Pedro’s current form, and the fact that Willian probably needs a rest, I don’t really see any harm in trying it.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind that at all either. He’s really good going forward and doesn’t have a passive bone in his body. Who knows what he could actually do on the right side cutting in on that left foot. Plus it would eliminate his weakest attribute, tracking runners.

I like that except for Willian. He just played a long game on Wednesday and could probably use a rest.

Obviously Kenedy played too, but he was subbed off and at his age should recover more quickly than Willian. I'd rather save Willian for Arsenal next week.

Good point on Willian... I would really be excited if Barkley started at AM role.

DiMarzio reporting that Dzeko has agreed to join us, and we are trying to finalize a deal with Roma that would include:

50-60m to Roma

Bats on loan to Roma, likely to be 18 month loan

Dzeko and Emerson coming to Chelsea

Really a pretty decent deal all things considered. Dzeko gives us cover and possibly even competition for Morata, Emerson is a bit of an unknown since he's coming off an ACL, but if he comes good then we have a potential replacement for Alonso (competition at the very least).

Certainly a much more positive move than Andy Carroll.

Dzeko has PL experience and has been on fire there after a shaky start. That would be a hell of a January haul.

Still think we need some kind of big forward signing if we are going to convince Hazard to stay, though obviously unlikely to happen in the winter window.

Tbh Alexis would have been a no-brainer, but even one of these young and exciting prospects performing at a high level would probably be fine as well. Bailey/Pulisic/Malcom/Guedes etc., though I think Malcom will end up at Spurs.

Bailey would probably be the best choice, would be cool to have a good left-footed forward again, though Guedes is sort of tearing up La Liga right now. Pulisic's dribbling is very similar to Hazard, though he'd probably be third choice if it was between him, Guedes and Bailey.

Also can't help but wonder if the manager situation is contributing to Hazard stalling on a new contract. Seems almost a foregone conclusion that Conte walks this summer.

The only thing about Sanchez was his wage demands. I think I saw two places report ~300k which is what, 100k more than Eden? I don’t know how Eden would feel about that considering all the anxiety he’s giving us with these new deal talks.

What’s the last # you heard?

Well if we are giving Eden a new contract we could just match his with Alexis which would probably be fine.

Supposedly the contract we are offering Eden is somewhere in the 300k range.

Some shaky moments resulted in a few big saves by Willy but apart from that it was nearly ideal. Would have liked to see a few minutes from Ross to spell Eden but the AC head injury wasted one of the subs.

That 2nd goal......

Hazard ran them ragged for 90 minutes, they had absolutely no idea what to do with him. Props to Brighton for opting to mostly hug Hazard to the ground rather than trying to kick his legs off. Also Bats actually had quite a good game, really deserved a goal.

Really hoping AC injury isn’t serious, though he’s having such a good season at this point I don’t think anything would really set him back.

Was hoping to see Barkley but KG is right that the AC sub likely wasn’t planned and took the place of what would have been a late game Barkley sub.

Anyway, another clean sheet and 4 goals scored.

Some amazing goals, some very sloppy play but in the end I’ll take the 3 points and some entertaining scoring.

Also, my dad was here visiting for a month and we played some horrible offensive football. He leaves Thursday and today we may have the play of the season. Hmm... [emoji848]

As far as I've read the uncertainty is on Dzeko's side rather than ours, but yeah it probably has something to do with whatever contract we are offering him, or possibly playing time who knows.
