Good overall game for United today. They looked a bit dodgy for the tail end of that 1st half but in the end, a win is a win is a win.

No way Cleverley was going for goal. That was a wayward cross for RVP.Comment

We looked really great in the 1st but after those two goals, I feel like they stepped off the pedal a little bit. And De Gea really has to sort out those crosses because he ain't claiming that GK spot until he can come out with confidence.
Rooney was my MoTM. Did everything from starting attacks, playing teammates thru, clearing balls and getting his own chances.
That Cleverley "shot" - magnificent!Comment

In fairness, teams gun for us moreso than most other teams but still. The test of a champion is to never look past the club you're currently playing on the pitch.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Wouldn't really expect any of those guys to play against Stoke. More likely they'll feature against Braga in the Champions League.
It is nice to see us having our defenders back.Comment

Another good win for us and it looks like Rooney is starting to come into form. Really, can't complain with our attack - they've been bailing us out for most of our matches so far - but that defense is troubling as hell. That second (technically, first) goal by Stoke was just a complete mess-up on the defense's part.Comment

I can't seem to find it now but there was running commentary on the BBC website and someone tweeted something like:
"I can tell you this is the best team performance of the season for Man Utd and the reason for this can be summed up in 3 words, Cleverley wasn't there!"

Great read on SAF, Manchester United and their European Cup story thus far.
As Ferguson later said: "My hands were tied because Manchester United's policy on salaries gave me no chance of providing the financial package required to secure those great players' contracts. I think the restrictions applied to wages prevented us from being the power in European football that we could have been in the '90s."
At that point, United's wage ceiling was £23,000 a week. When the club were offered Brazilian legend in the making Ronaldo by the player's agent before he went to Barcelona in 1996, they were told they would have to start at £50,000 and likely go higher.Comment

Chicharito just had his best game since arriving at United. Made good passes, scored, harried players, and that run in the 2nd-half that almost led to a goal? Gorgeous. Hopefully he develops his game more so that he's not merely a poacher.Comment
