I was really impressed by that Herrera kid. I actually thought it was Ander at first because of how crappy BeIn SD looks.

Why can't our own fans revive this thread? SPEAK UP! We need to be as active as these other pretenders to the top 4.

Didn't catch the match as I've been traveling but by the looks of it, another case of missed chances to score. PKs are always a gamble but the Carrick and Young penalties were a shocker. Disappointed to miss out on the chance to win a trophy, especially after Chelsea and Arsenal went out, but I won't take this as an indictment on the squad.

What's going on with Memphis Depay? He's been very poor. In and out of the side. Do you think Van Gaal has soured on him already? Surely he lasts longer than Di Maria.

Only my opinion but I think he just needs to play. He'll come good. Play him out wife left, Martial down the middle and drop Rooney.

Currently, Memphis simply hasn't fully adapted to LVG's "philosophy." He loses the ball too easily (a no-no for LVG); has, for the past couple of matches, been lazy on helping out on defence (again, a no-no for LVG); also according to Memphis himself, he's still struggling to adapt to life in the Prem.

I don't think LVG has soured on him and I believe he'll come good. We see the flashes of brilliance here and there, but starring for PSV isn't anything like starring for United. He'll get his chances in his debut season, but I'm really not expecting him to replicate his final year with PSV.

As for formation, I'd actually love a fluid 3 of Martial-Rooney-Memphis but LVG currently favours the 2 holding mids. January will be interesting since he's been quoted to want to put more pace in the squad, which I would hope to become an eventual permanent shift to 4-3-3.

Yeah I think people forget Debay is still pretty young and being tipped as the next big star for the Dutch has put a lot of pressure on him. I think he will eventually get better but people will have to be patient.

Its hard to be patient in these young guys like Depay and Martial when so much money was paid for them. Honestly I don't think they will live up to those price tags (over the next few seasons) and it isn't fair to them.

Memphis will come good. He's young, and the talent is definitely there. I like that he's being eased into the squad. Pace will be a need moving forward, but for now, we're just going to have to see what happens.

People just have such high expectations of every young talent these days. Some will explode sooner, others a bit later. What matters is they pan out -- hopefully while with our club.

Looks like Carrick messed up his ankle pretty badly today.

England match? I haven't been updated in the last few hours. If so, ****. Not that we don't have good cover, but still, he's pretty integral to the squad.

Yeah, stretchered off and the initial word was ligament damage.
