But for the majority of people who support a team in the lower leagues, the Premier League is the ultimate goal. The idea that, if my team gets to the top, it will all be worth it. All the cold Tuesday nights where we were battered 3-0. All the Saturdays spent driving hours up the motorway to see them playing away, only to return unsuccessful. All the lowest ebbs, when the club was at it's worst.

All worth it, because now we are amongst the elite. Because now the Manchester Uniteds, the Liverpools, the Arsenals of the world are coming to our ground.

    Because we've earned this success.
You'll have to save that for whenever Bristol City makes it to the top flight damn that was deep haha. It does sound amazing though. From what I've seen the promotion playoffs have an amazing atmosphere. Definitely would love to go to one someday.

You should see the amount of bad press FIFA are getting from English journalists about not just the 2022 World Cup, but also the 2018 World Cup in Russia. I don't think I've seen and felt as much anti-FIFA feeling in England as I do right now. There was a lot of arrogance, however, that we would be awarded the 2018 World Cup.

Bristol City spent some time in the top flight quite a few years ago, in the old division one, but certainly it was before the era of the "Premier League", and before my time.

Five years ago, we were ninety minutes away from the Premier League, when we made it to the playoff final against Hull, looking for what would've been a second successive promotion. Then Dean Windass happened...

I really wanted that World Cup. Bristol City's bid for a new stadium pretty much hung on us being awarded the World Cup.

That was evident the second both Russia and Qatar were announced.

"Chucho" Benitez died in a car crash today. He played for Club America in Liga MX and was coming off a strong season. Very sad, he was only 27 years old.

Having a World Cup in a desert and a country where alcohol is banned will be interesting.

Very sad indeed. I remember him from his Birmingham days. It was only a few weeks ago he'd agreed to join Qatari side El Jaish.

They're lifting the alcohol ban during the WC.

From memory, we were going to get about 15k or 20k more seats and not have to pay for it. I still think it's quite bizarre we haven't had a World Cup since 66, you could hold one today because you don't really need to change anything!

If FIFA switches to a winter World Cup would really show how big of a ****show they really are. It would completely throw away the tradition and history of this wonderful tournament. What's the point of countries putting in bids and trying to bring the WC to their people if it's just going to be whoever pays more?

Not a car crash, cardiorespiratory arrest. RIP.

Just relaying the info I got from ESPN. I am assuming he was driving a car when it happened? Otherwise I don't understand the confusion on their part.

NVM: I see that he was sent to the hospital with severe stomach pains after a match. Is cardio respiratory arrest a heart attack? Not really great with medical terms and google isn't helping here.
