Looks like Messi is out for the calendar year with another "muscle" injury. This is his third "muscle" related injury this year. I wonder if all those steroids/HGH he took as a youngster are now catching up to him. He definitely hasn't looked himself this year and his goal tally reflects it.

Whilst on the subject (sort of). Is there any sort of action on flares/smoke etc like that in the photo in the US? It's banned in England, which is a bit upsetting as I think they're fantastic myself.

Individual teams may ban them, but in general anyone can go out and buy them. We get the smoke bombs from places that sell paintball supplies. Apparently, they throw down smokescreens in paintball. Who knew? Road flares are widely available as well. I'm sure if we threw them on the field, there would be action taken, but we're not idiots about it.

I'm not sure if MLS has a league-wide policy or not. But I do know that Portland sets off colored smoke bombs in their stadium.
