Still probably Messi tbh, but yeah Levy’s form is completely wild this season.

The Beautiful Game Thread
Oh I have no problem with VVD being 2nd, just have a problem that he nearly won it even though it’s clear as day that Messi was once again the best. At least 2 of the ones Ronaldo won probably should have gone to Messi as well.
Ronaldo just isn’t playing at his normal level currently, and Mané was definitely better this year. Either way though, it should have been Lewandowski in the top 3 but journalists never seem to remember him for whatever reason.
Also Mbappe is amazing but he plays in a subpar league for a team that usually wins it comfortably with double digit margins. I do think FDJ should have won over de Ligt though.
Here's the thing though Brahv, Ronaldo & Messi's normal levels are so much higher than anyone else's, probably in history. They basically did what El Fenenemo did in his peak years (96/97 Barca and post ACL at Real) and BLEW his #'s out of the water. Their only competition is themselves. Even slightly below their normal levels, they're still better than the next tier.
Ligue 1 isn't competitive but the same can be said of every other major European league. Inter looks like they can give Juve a run this year but you know Bayern is going to find a way to win the Bundesliga. Ligue 1 just can't hold onto their good young players.

Ligue 1 is still considerably lower quality than the Prem and La Liga, and at least noticeably lower quality than Serie A and the Buli.
If it wasn’t for PSG they wouldn’t even have any automatic CL spots anymore.
For a player of Mbappe’s caliber, playing on that kind of team, that league isn’t even remotely challenging. Neymar is basically smurfing in that league lol.Comment

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread
Was a post on Reddit about that crazy finish between Leicester City and Watford in the Championship Playoff semi-finals a few years back being the greatest sports moment of the decade and someone posted this fantastic picture of the Leicester sideline:
Yep, that's Kane and Vardy (with absolutely tragic hair) on the bench in favor of Anthony Knockaert/Chris Wood (Kane actually came on for Wood in the 2nd half) and Nigel Pearson who now manages....Watford.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 12-30-2019, 11:28 AM.Comment

^Paul Konchesky on the far right. Good thing he only cost us 3.5m back in the day. He had no business being anywhere near the first team. What on earth was Roy Hodgson thinking of with that one?Comment

We've come a long way from signing the likes of Konchesky, used up Joe Cole, and Christian Paulson.Comment

Liverpool twitter has taken over a poll on the Spurs account to make sure Peter Crouch beats Harry Kane to their team of the decade. Never change weirdos!Comment
