Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Altidore goes off after five minutes with an injury but we get a goal from Osorio to make it 4-1 on aggregate 12 minutes in. WOOT!!!
Edit: TFC advances to the Final 4-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw. Great result. The crazy rain definitely benefited us.
Somebody else suggested it in another forum but the Mexican teams just don't seem that great this year.Last edited by bhurst99; 04-11-2018, 12:06 AM.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Can't believe TFC won! What a crazy season this has been! Thought it'd be worse coming into this stadium but it really wasn't that bad, and the refs seemed so neutral in this one.
Was it just me or did the crowd seem dead? I was expecting full volume and crowd going crazy all game.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
The first leg again is in Toronto which I hate because it puts a lot of pressure on the club to score goals and build a cushion for the second leg in Mexico. I hope our terrible spring weather continues and it snows for the first leg next week.
I don't think we can win if Altidore isn't healthy.
Chivas will be fired up -- they haven't won this tourney since 1962.
Crazy note: This Toronto CONCACAF run started in the 2017 Canadian Championship (only way a Canadian team can win entry to the CONCACAF Champions League) with a semifinal loss 2-1 to Ottawa (NASL). LOL.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
It was a much smaller and weird tournament back then.
When LA won all the quarterfinal, semifinal and final games were played in California over like six days.
Same thing when DC United won. All the quarterfinal, semifinal and final games were played in Washington over like five days.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Find those rules weird. So if TFC loses the Canadian championship but wins the MLS Cup, they won't even gain entry into this? They should re-work those rules. If we can have multiple US and Mexican teams there, there should also be opportunity to have multiple Canadian teams(in the event one wins Canadian championship and another wins MLS Cup).Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
LOL, the Canadian Championship has 6 teams. 1 spot for Canada is fair. You have to win a whopping 2 rounds to get in.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
I don't know. It seems odd to me that if TFC wins the Canadian title and Vancouver wins the MLS Cup, sorry Vancouver you're out of luck and the MLS Cup runner-up from the US gets to go instead.
Edit: It wouldn't be the MLS Cup runner-up in that scenario. It would be the US team with the best record over 2017 and 2018 unless of course that team has already qualified under another scenario.Last edited by bhurst99; 04-11-2018, 12:38 PM.Comment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Then all the Central American nations with many more teams than Canada should get more than 1 team in too.
The way I see it is you can't have it both ways. If you want to give up that Canadian Championship slot when a Canadian team wins something bigger, fine. But Canada should never have more than 1 slot with the small number of teams they have eligible compared to all the other nations.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 04-11-2018, 12:39 PM.Comment

Yes, I spend way too much time looking this stuff up. LOLComment

Re: MLS Discussion Thread
Ah that's right there's the one spot that can go to one of several nations. My point still stands though. Canada already gets 33% of its top tier teams in every year. It's fair.
