TFC vs UANL(Mexico) in quarter finals. By Thursday we'll know all other quarterfinal matchups relating to MLS teams(if others get in).

Hate to say it but I think Tigres will spank us. We didn't look very good against Colorado in the first half although I thought we dominated the second half but left our shooting boots in storage.

I feel like we might have had a shot against the Tigres if the second leg was at home but it's in Mexico.

MLS teams are at a disadvantage at this stage because they're just getting into the swing of their preseason training while the teams from other leagues are generally match fit after playing 9-10 league matches. Some teams are still trying to fill out rosters. And that's on top of the usual depth issues.

True and the new format does try to address that. The quarterfinals and semifinals are all being played a couple weeks later than previous years which allows the MLS teams to have a few more games under their belts. But this round of 32 still has that disadvantage. Hopefully, New York and Seattle can advance tonight.

Never realized the MLS season starts this weekend. TFC-Columbus kicking things off. Couldn't tell based on coverage around here. Media still obsessed with the Canadian non-playoff teams in the NHL and cliche spring training stories.

The MLS still has some of the worst marketing. Individual teams may vary, but the MLS itself is just... weird.

Individual markets in this case hurts them too. Here, there's only 2 main sports networks, 1 has most games, so only they care about MLS.

Still think they should also have proper game recaps too. The other leagues I can see recaps of jays, Raptors, Leafs in a 30 min show just hours after a game is done. Mls has nothing like that.

Last year, for the Inagural Season, MNUFC's marketing was quite awful, this year it's much improved(at least on the Minneapolis side of the cities) MNUFC just signed a deal with FSN North, and a radio deal with our local ESPN affiliate, so we'll see how well it does now. I'll be purchasing my season tickets tomorrow, because I have no self control, and I have faith that in 20 years I'll remember to cancel after we still have 0 DPs.

Sorry, tangent, but some individual markets are better at advertising than others. When I was living in Colorado, certain parts of Denver were definitely geared toward Rapids, when I was in Columbus, I couldn't tell if they even had a team still. Either way, i think nearly every MLS team agrees that marketing needs to be improved from the top down, dramatically.

They better follow the NBA way of marketing and not the NHL marketing lol.

The NBA has the best marketing team. I don't think many people would disagree with that. Not only that, the fact that they are fairly lax on their social media policies and encourage "clip sharing" is so wildly different from literally every other league.

Ah yes, Liverpool has been solid defensively lately, so here comes Minnesota to remind me what a total ****show a defense can be.

I was so ready to just sit with my hands in my face and remember back to when Arsenal lost 5-1 in the Champion's League to Bayern, then MNUFC lost 5-1 to Portland, then 6-1 to Atlanta, only to come on here and joke about how Arsena's mid-season results are MNUFC's early season results.

While we still lost, and we still played fairly poorly, there was at least a fight in the team, there was an urgency, if that third goal had come, I might've lost it, even after working 14 hours today. What a refreshing change it was to see a team I support go down, and actually push back a little bit.

Revs picked up right where they left off last season.

I watched quite a bit of the 3 matches on yesterday, and while I'm super happy it's back, the referees were fairly terrible from what I saw. Why do we have VAR again? Lol

I'm fully ready to go back to pre-VAR days minus goal line calls. That's really all I ever wanted anyway.
