So in reality the only clubs with a legitimate shot at the title in any given year are:

    Arsenal
    Chelsea
    Liverpool
    Manchester City
    Manchester United

The top three will also most likely come from this list.
Spurs are uptick now, but until the crack the top three with regularity they don't belong here.

And out of those 5, only Villa have stayed in the Premiership, with Leeds, Forest and Norwich all spending time in the third tier.

The only consolation from that post is that we've won the title more recently than Liverpool. And that was in the 91-92 season! It both pleases me and saddens me.

Re: The 2013-14 EPL Discussion Thread

Do the extra NBCSN channels cost anything extra on DirecTV? Tottenham are not being shown on NBCSN this weekend, so I found all these extra channels that show all the EPL games (in HD). I set the DVR to record Tottenham-Norwich tomorrow, and it didn't tell me that I am not subscribed to that channel or anything like that.

I suppose I will find out tomorrow morning whether it recorded or not, haha.

You have the channels since you get NBCSN.

Even though this was actually an eventful Interlull, it's good to have EPL action back.

Well, the referee sure screwed the pooch at the end of the half there.

Christian Eriksen looks amazing for Tottenham always been a fan of him even though I can't stand Ajax. Wish Arsenal would have swooped him up a long time ago.

No advantage play there? Awful. Took away a goal.

Maybe Arsenal still wins it, but man Atkinson needs a demotion.

Takes away the goal and then doesnt send off Sagna. Horrendous

Great win for Everton. Chelsea's offense looked way more anemic than I expected.

What a great match between Chelsea and Everton - I only saw the second half but it was end-to-end stuff.

Chelsea weren't bad, just lacked a bit of cutting edge.

Right, which is why I was shocked they didn't acquire a world class finisher. They'll create a lot of chances, but it would help if they had someone clinical to get on the end of those chances.

Ashley Young at it again, just pathetic. Just goes to show that a yellow for simulation isn't a deterrent. Needs to be straight red and a sending off.
In other news, good to see Bale get on the score sheet in what was to me the match of the day, Villarreal look fantastic in the early going, but I'll stop being as this is the BPL thread.

It was only one game, and his first match ever in the epl, whether or not Eto'o is "past it" remains to be seen.

Personally, I am going to give it a few more games before I write off one of the best strikers of the last 10 years
