Rah rah. You want to be taken seriously in world wide soccer you cannot lose in this competition. I don't care if the goals were Guzan's fault or not he just opened the door for Howard to walk in. Klinsman will bust his balls but you can be assured that Howard is the #1 goalie for this team.Comment

Re: 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Thread
I have complete faith in Klinsmann, but things like this test that faith....
I think Klinsmann would actually have a lot more positive impact as head of US Soccer than he can as USMNT coach. The changes need to be more macro - i.e. organization of infrastructure from youth soccer on up through the ranks - than simply team selections or tactics.
We can be a very good team. We just can't be a very good team if we continue to have utter disorganization at all levels of development and a professional league that's run like it is currently.Comment

I'd be more mad if we didn't play well. We did, just got beat by a team that played well and we didn't finish the chances we had. That's soccer.
The good news is we still have a chance to play in the Confed Cup. Time to gear up for the winner of this weekend's match. I hope it's Jamaica.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-22-2015, 07:54 PM.Comment

You do realize that Jamaica isn't even rated in the Top 50? This isn't youth soccer you don't get a participation trophy. They were run off the field in the first half. A good team finds a way to finish off Jamaica. This type of play and results continue I could see Klinsman gone.Comment

Look, I'm not saying it isn't disappointing. It's just not the end of the world. Now if we somehow don't advance to the Hex, then yeah, burn it down.Comment

I saw the rankings. Maybe they are better than the US team. They sure played like it today.Comment

I agree win or lose it doesn't put any money in my pocket. Just sayin' they ain't all that. As far as they went in last year's WC is as far as they can go and without Howard standing on his head they don't even do that.Comment

Re: 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Thread
The defense makes the US a pretty bad team. I don't know where I'd rank the USMNT globally, but they are way way down there.
They're best when they are underdogs (see: the friendlies against Germany/Holland) which is not the mentality you want from a consistently good squad. They are entertaining as hell, but not to be taken seriously.Last edited by dubcity; 07-22-2015, 08:29 PM.Comment

Re: 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Thread
FIFA rankings are a joke no doubt. But Wales ain't too bad, what with Bale and Aaron Ramsey and Ashley Williams. Pretty darn good talent there in the land of Tom Jones...Comment
