FIFA rankings, lol. Wales is 10th right now...
Yup. They (Jamaica) played pretty damn well in the Copa America and fielded a squad in this torney that had 14-15 players who played there. That's a huge advantage. Their new coach has them playing pretty well defensively and you know athletically they are going to be strong and fast. It's just a matter of discipline/focus for them.

We just lost our focus for 5-10 mins, got rattled, and were forced to chase the result. Unfortunately, we just couldn't get put that 2nd one in the back of the net.

Even though I root for the US first & foremost I'm proud of my Jamaicans. This is a historic win for them.

The difference between Mexico-USA and Panama-Jamaica in the finals is going to be...unpleasant, if you're Fox Broadcasting.

Tough times for CONCACAF when Mexico and US are playing in the 3rd place match, lol.

Some of those Panamanian players just straight up want to punch someone right now.

That's about as muted a celebration as you'll ever see from Miguel Herrera.

You know, outside of Alvarado and The Weeknd, we weren't terrible on the defensive side of the ball. We just couldn't score whenever we were jamming it down their throats early on. That and good ****ing god, we can't cross the ball worth two ****s. I haven't been watching soccer my entire life, but I've never seen a team have more success on long throw ins than they did corners. I mean, we were ****ing abysmal. That and I just don't get why we insist on long passes that skip the entire mid third of the field. Yeah it's pretty whenever a white shirt is on the receiving end, but good god does anybody outside of Yedlin know it's okay to keep the ball on the ground when advancing.

And that's another thing, Yedlin should have been a halftime sub in my eyes. A box to box midfielder against a team that feasts on counters seems like the perfect fit for a box to box mid like Yedlin. He came on way too late to make a difference.

Except Yedlin isn't a box-to-box middie and his speed isn't as pronounced vs a team like Jamaica. I did think he was gonna come on for Beckerman who was already booked but Bedoya IMO is the much better player right now.

Agreed on the long balls though.

I hope that's the last time we see Beckerman. I've always been higher on him than a lot of people because he usually did the job that was asked of him well. But in this tournament he was a turnover machine - often when he was under no or minimal pressure. Your holding midfielder can't constantly turn the ball over like he did. Time to move on.

Just a terminology thing, but Yedlin plays outside and his role would be described as a winger. A box-to-box player is a central midfielder who doesn't have a set role (attacking or defending) and is expected to do everything in the midfield. For the US, that'd be Bradley at times. Think Gerrard in his prime.

The long balls were really why we couldn't come back in that game. We were dicing their defense up with ground passes, they were leaving plenty of space in passing lanes and we were getting good chances. The keeper had a good 20 minute stretch in the beginning of the second half where he was getting comically lucky that he wasn't getting scored on. Then for the last 20 minutes of the game we just decided to say **** it and play long balls into the box from our own half.

Really hope Jamaica beats Mexico, but I can't help but feel we are in for another CONCACAFing in the final. Our confederation is an absolute joke, you know it's bad when it's worse than COMNEBOL.
