Coworker is Guatemalan and he was just shaking his head during the game today. What a disaster. Not like he expected anything different but still.Comment

Is it just me or Friedel shouting a bit more in his commentary?
Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Haiti just doesn't have the finishing technique to go with their speed. Also Guzan had himself a nice game cutting down angles on their most dangerous chances. There is no reason the US should have had only 8 shot attempts. Too much dancing around in the penalty area instead of taking open shooting lanes when they were there. Nice to have the group wrapped up already.Comment

Re: 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Thread
There was a large Haitian fan turnout at the match tonight. To the right of the supporter's section that my friends and I were in was a huge group of Haiti fans who were just having one non-stop party. Just jumping up and down and dancing the entire time. Many were also getting blazed, the smoke and smell of which caused several parents with kids to complain to the security guards. This resulted in about 12 Haiti fans getting thrown out, but it didn't stop their party or the smoking.
I obviously didn't get the benefit of TV replay, but there was a lot of talk in our section that the Haitian players were diving and trying to sell fouls all over the pitch. At least that's what it look like, but I admit I could be wrong.
The US back four has never been the team's strong suit, and they had trouble coping with Haiti's speed. If Haiti could finish, they might have won the match. The US should have had way more shots, as they got into some great attacking positions, but it didn't seem like anyone wanted to pull the trigger. Altidore was especially frustrating in that regard.
Still, while it wasn't convincing, we got the 3 points and are through to the knockouts after two matches, which is what really matters. We will need to step up our performance against better opposition, though.
Also, hilariously, sitting in front of us was a pair of young, probably 16 year old lovers. The girl was absolutely infatuated with the boy, but the boy was getting increasingly annoyed. He just wanted to watch the game, while she wanted to have a grand romantic moment. "Isn't it great how there's a game going on but we just can't stop looking into each other's eyes? It's so- hey! Look at me! Don't look at the game, look at me! Look into my eyes!" "But we have a free kick and-" "Look at me. Look at me. Just like that. Yes. No, don't look away. Look at me! Look at me. Look at me. Look. At. Me. Look- there. Yes, just like that. There's a game going on, but all we care about is- hey, stop looking at the game!"Comment
