Re: The 2015-2016 EPL Discussion Thread
Oh Perceptor, you're such a troll lol.
I agree on Sturridge - he's a proven goal scorer when fit and he'd be right up there with Aguero if he stayed fit. I do think it's a toss up between Mignolet and Kasper on who I'd take as both have their strengths and weaknesses.
I think though moving forward, teams like Leicester and maybe Everton will be spending the money to further build their teams. Look out for Spurs too. They have a great manager and a new stadium opening up in a couple of years. Being in London doesn't hurt them either as well as the increase in TV money. City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and United will always spend (well ok maybe not Wenger), but they only have so much space and playing time to give to players. This allows other teams to get some great talent in.
Look at Dele Alli. Would he have developed as well as he has without the playing time he's received? Same with Kane. If you're a young player, you want ton be playing at the highest level with the best teams....but those best teams may not give you the playing time you've been accustomed to. This is how the other teams who don't have as much wealth or draw factor can lure good players.Comment

Re: The 2015-2016 EPL Discussion Thread
I think it's more about keeping your players as opposed to going out and spending. Clubs like Liecester and even Everton have done a great job at identifying players who fit their system/styles and when they perform, their value increases which attracts the bigger clubs who don't have the same philosophies.
Stones (3mil)
Mirallas (6mil)
Deleflou (4mil)
Barkley (free)
Lukaku (28mil)
Besic (4mil)
That's ~45 mil spent on those guys with a potential profit of ~100 mil if they were to sell. Resisting the temptation to sell is what will make this league even tougher as the new TV money comes in and the likes of Stoke and Watford spend cash.Comment

Re: The 2015-2016 EPL Discussion Thread
Sturridge/Firmino over Okazaki surely?
Also, Kasper is comfortably the most overrated member of your team. He is a decent lower-midtable keeper who gets more credit than he deserves almost exclusively because of who his dad is. He is your weakest link for sure. He's your Mignolet/Sczezny; solid keeper but will hold the team back eventually.
Kasper is good. He's consistent and he has the ability to pinpoint long passes. His weakness is defending set pieces. He's not overrated neither underrated. He's just a good EPL GK.Comment

I've been surprised at how good Firmino actually is, especially in that false 9. I didn't get the Bundesliga back on tv until this year so I missed out on his time there but his progression from his first minutes at Liverpool until now is like night and day.

Keepers like Kasper/Mignolet/Mannone will always shine at clubs that concede lots of shots, because they are excellent shot stoppers. They are much more limited than their top tier counterparts in pretty much all other categories however.
Migs shone at Sunderland because they are awful, and all he ever needed to do was sit there and wait for shots to come.Comment
