Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread

He typed a whole bunch of words just to say “They should wait until after the season”, which is fair.

But then he also mentions them dropping their last 2 games in a row, which leads me to think that if he had won those games and was still given the job, then he wouldn’t have written this.

I can already see him being one of those “This is why they should’ve waited and got Poch instead” if they end up slumping towards the end of the season. English Media are weird, lol.

It's highly likely that he was assigned this article to write—he's not a blogger.

        1. I’m well aware of that.

2.I was talking about OGS in the last part, not the writer.

I’m confused. The writer mentioned losing the two games, and wrote the article...what was referencing Ole?

            The article is about Ole.

He specifically mentions Man U dropping two matches in a row as an example to wait to give OGS the job permanently. He didn’t list any other examples/reasoning as to why they should wait yet he listed some reasons as to why they should give him the job permanently.

Basically, I’m saying would this particular article have been written if OGS won those 2 matches?

Edit: Also, I forgot to add, the “High Priest of Fergianity”? What exactly is that supposed to mean?

Perhaps not—but perhaps that also means he was confirmed as the manager
earlier. To me, the meat of the article is not affected much by those two games, which is why it was more of an afterthought.

I think it's a clever (or not, depending on who you are) way of pointing out that he's essentially been a beaming symbol of Manchester United Exceptionalism, and hanging onto this absurd idea of "the Manchester United way" which doesn't really mean anything.

Ole has been rather shallow when attempting to communicate his philosophy other than saying "its Manchester United" or something to that effect. He's been more of a symbol of the past than the future and is an incredible example of how the identity of the club is refusing to evolve from the world Fergie created (I know it'll take time, but it seems like they're going backward).

There was an interview several weeks ago in which he replied to three questions in a row with some form of "it's Manchester United"—all were dismissing concerns of discussing how his squad would deal with adversity. It was something such as a reporter asking him how they planned on dealing with injuries, fixtures, and something else. His response to each was basically "it'll be okay, we're Manchester United."

That's only going to take him and the club so far. At some point, he and they must evolve and not just preach about the past and the mystical aura surrounding the club as if it will solve their problems.

My biggest annoyance surrounding United right now is the infallibility there seems to be. You can't discuss their future, or question if the appointment of Ole is best, because everyone is living in the now. It's weird, as often with all sports everyone openly acknowledges the issue of only looking at the present. Yet this seems to be an example of that also happening, but people refusing to realize it's happening.

Basically, it seems to be impossible to have a discussion about United because it's met with two things: blind support and dismissal of anything remotely critical due to the recent form, or general dismissal of even wanting to discuss them due to disliking the club so much.

This gives me horrible flashbacks of Michigan and Brady Hoke, with MU playing the role of UM, and Solskjaer of Hoke respectively.

Wait a minute... UM? MU? They're the same letters!

Eh...the timing was weird but he should have gotten the job after the PSG game. The “United Way” crap gets annoying because it brings back Fergie levels of domination, luck, and overall annoyance but he’s been tactically better than ppl give him credit for.

desperate for work and in need of a sizeable reputation boost, apparently David Moyes has thrown his hat in the ring for the recently vacated FC Cincinnati post

Brighton sack Chris Hughton. Not really surprised, some of his signings just haven't worked out. A lot of money spent on Locadia & Jahanbakhsh with very little return.

Two wins in 2019 was also probably a factor.

Allegri will not return to Juventus.

The architect of everything we hate, Tony Pulis has been sacked by Middkesbrough.

I’d imagine they’d make a late run at Conte before he puts pen to paper at Inter.
