Nah doesn't mean much. I think France has very little chance against Germany.

Massive effort by Iceland, the scoreline isn't quite fair for the amount of fight they put up, What an incredible run though.

France is going to go in dry on us with no Hummels, Gomez, Khedira, or Schweinsteiger.

I don't think we're good enough defensively against a really good team like Germany. Hoping for a close semi final though.

Germany without an out & out striker shouldn't scare France. I'd imagine Draxler/Goetze will play as a false 9 with Ozil given his normal permission to roam and find pockets of space. Muller, great in WC's but terrible in Euros, will need to show up. I personally think he's wasted out wide and should be the false 9 instead of the 2 I mentioned before.

It should be an exciting game though. As good as France is going forward they can be had in the back. 2 really intriguing semi-final matchups.

First rule of international football: Germany should always scare everyone.

If anything, we should all be more scared of Germany than before.

Before, Italy was always there to protect us. They were the last line of defense against complete German football domination. The kryptonite to Germany's square-jawed footballing superman.

But now Italy has fallen. God help us all.

Probably but in recent years Spain has been every bit as successful vs them. Beat em in 08 and 10 otw to titles.

I just am not of the belief that a "not at full strength" Germany can go into France's backyard and beat them.

                    For sure.

To be fair though, if Iceland can put two past France, I'd imagine Germany could too, and probably without conceding 5 goals.

While we're being fair, Iceland has outscored Germany in this competition and France didn't concede those 2 goals until the result was no longer in question. [emoji6]

I dunno, Germany kinda has a history of doing exactly this.

Last world cup people said Germany looked unconvincing right up until they played the host nation as well.

Actually, France last world cup looked great, scoring for fun, right up until they played Germany.

Anyway, I think it will be a very close game. 1 goal victory for either side or penalties.

Portugal Wales, who you got ?

Should be a pretty closed game unless Wales score first early.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Germany, they're easily a top 3 footballing nation but even that 2014 WC final wasn't very convincing to me. Messi was on fumes, Di Maria was out, Higuain was his usual self in big international matches and it still took a late winner from Goetze who tbh, has sucked ever since.

I think that 2014 Germany side was better than this one and they needed some heroics (typical) from Neur, Schurlle's directness, and excellent midfield play from 2/3 guys who aren't available this match to beat France.

I do think this is the match that France misses Benz as he was such a threat in that 2014 game and caused Low to drop his back line deeper than he had planned too originally.

I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't afraid of Didier's tactical acumen. I'm curious to see if he starts a midfield of 3 and plays Griezman out wide or starts Koman on the right and plays Griezman behind Giroud this sitting Matuidi most likely.

If he goes back to 4-3-3 we're ****ed. France has looked so much better running the 4 2 3 1 with Griezman very close to Giroud in the box.

I think it's 1-1 or 2-2 at the end of the 2nd half.
