Not sure if anyone's been watching a lot of the Gold Cup matches. I've seen quite a few, and the competition has been crap overall so far. Most teams look like complete ***.

Yeah I have a couple of matches saved on my DVR and I've been in no hurry to watch them.

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
I probably won't care about the Gold Cup at all unless we reach the final and/or play Mexico.
Then of course if we lose either of those games I'll go back to claiming I never cared about it at all.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
If we face Costa Rica in the semis, it'll be a little more interesting! The Ticos brought a pretty good squad to the Gold Cup, and a match-up with them should be better than what we've seen so far.
It's been pretty blah so far, but I imagine the next several matches could end up being much better. It's still a shell of what it could be because the rosters just aren't as stacked as possible, but I'm looking forward to the knockout portion.

AFCON is expanding to 24 teams and moving to June/July. Really like that 2nd thing.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
Soccer is a funny game sometimes.
Rangers get knocked out of Europa by some plumbers from Luxembourg.
Today, they battle a very strong Marseille side to a 1-1 draw. Yes, it was a friendly, but Marseille picked a very strong side with Payet, Germain, Thauvin, Rami, Evra, Rolando, and Sakai all starting.
- Bruno Alves gave a commanding performance in his Rangers debut. Fellow countryman Daniel Candeias looked most impressive, giving Marseille lots of problems down the right. But he should've done better in the first half when he missed Eduardo Herrera on a counter attack.
- Caixinha has tinkered with the formation and tactics since he arrived late last season. Today, he opted for a straight forward 4-4-2, and funny thing....it worked.
And in other Scotland news, Celtic's Green Brigade took issue with the fact that UEFA and Celtic have banned them for two games because they didn't see any issue with unfurling banners in support of the IRA during their Champions League match against Linfield. The Green Brigade issued a statement saying they will not "dilute their politics" and they "refuse to allow a discredited and corrupt organization like UEFA or a board which has welcomed Tory Lords to dictate our moral compass".Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 07-22-2017, 10:13 PM.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
I had the game on at work, but I didn't really get to focus on it or hear much of the commentary. Spurs are probably my favorite team to follow in Premier League, and it's pretty easy for me to say Eriksen is without a doubt the piece that makes that team go. I'm a big fan of Lloris, Vertonghen, and Alderweireld holding the back line down very well, but Eriksen is the key.Comment

Rangers lost to Hibs 2-3. Complexion of the match changed when Ryan Jack got sent for a phantom head butt, yet this didn't even get a caution...
And yes, he literally tackled him. I've seen rugby players sent off for a hit like that.
Same official cost us 3 points against Aberdeen last year when he gave a bogus free kick near the end of the game.

El Clasico was great, goals, drama and terrible refereeing.
Also holy crap Asensio is going to be a superstarComment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
He is soooooo good.
Also, Bale's elite pace looks all but done. Some of those balls played into space that he would normally run down he was getting beaten to by Pique.
Meanwhile Varane literally eats up every yard on the other end. I don't think ever seen anyone get the better of him pace-wise.
