Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
Will Conte even show up for the FA Cup final and if he does how much will he not care?

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
Well the US Open Cup dream is dead, but the team could be proud of their effort in only losing 2-0. Turns out that people who are getting paid to train and play tend to have much better positioning and technical skill. Was actually pretty fun to watch a pro team up close like that.Comment

Ralph Hasenhuttl steps down as RB Leipzig coach. It sounds like he didn't want to go into next season with a lame duck contract situation. Rumor has it that he'll end up at Arsenal. Nagelsmann would be ideal, but I don't think he's leaving Hoffenheim until after the 2018-19 season. If Leipzig doesn't want to go big game hunting with their wallet, should take a long look at Hudderfield's David Wagner, he'd be a great fit at multiple levels. I could also see Leipzig rescuing Roger Schmidt from China, or trying to poach Manuel Baum from Augsburg.
Ademola Lookman was a good loan pickup from Everton, hopefully Leipzig can convince Everton to sell him. With money to spend, I expect Leipzig to make some adds.
After the overwhelming success of year 1 of RB Leipzig, year 2 was all over the place. Inconsistent in the Bundesliga, and mixed levels of success in Europe. That being said, they got valuable experience and will be back in the Europa League next year (and were 1 win away from a CL return visit). If my memory serves, the Europa League spot is still up in the air, if Bayern beats Frankfurt, Leipzig goes into the group stage and Stuttgart has to play in. If Frankfurt wins, they go into the group stage and Leipzig will have to play in.
EDIT: Leipzig will have to play in. Congrats to Frankfurt.Last edited by rdnk; 05-19-2018, 08:47 PM.Comment

Do you guys hold onto Timo or do you cash in?
If he has a good WC (which he should) I'd imagine you'd want to cash in right?Comment

They won't look to sell, but if the right offer (100M?) were to come along, then they might consider selling him. The only reason Keita is gone was because of a release clause in his contract forced Leipzig's hand. With Red Bull behind them, Leipzig doesn't need the money from transfers and is likely more interested in keeping high quality players in an attempt to return to the CL or make a run at the Bundesliga, especially after the mixed results of last season.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
Admittedly, outside of reddit, I get all my Buli news from one person (German friend).
From what my friend has been telling me, Leipzig has had a big summer planned for a while. Like the whole youth promotion and very young squad (and getting them European experience) was part of a beginning phase. He has been pretty adamant that the next phase will be something along the lines of "showing off Red Bull's wealth", and that their target is becoming a European power, even more than winning the Bundesliga.
So my first question is, does my friend have any idea what he's talking about? And if he does, would that mean this summer is the start of the next phase?Comment

Rumor has it, if Leipzig really wants to get Nagelsmann, Rangnick would coach the team for a year to help facilitate, the same way as he did in the Bundesliga 2 in 2015-16.Comment
