Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
A pretty huge disaster for them, but hey at least they avoid going to this shambolic winter World Cup in Qatar. Easily the least excited I've been for a World Cup since I became a fan of this sport. And the next one we go to 48 teams lol.Comment

Italy had lost 1 of their previous 42 matches. Talk about bad timing. They got straight up FM’d in this one. I can’t believe that shot went in.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
My Canada finally ran out of luck last night and suffered our first defeat in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying.
Mark-Anthony Kaye was given a questionable second yellow in the 34th minute so we had to play the last 60 with 11 men. We still dominated possession. We nearly tied it late but we had a header hit the crossbar and a shot hit the post. Also had a corner kick land at somebody's feet like three yards out and he couldn't convert.
We've had some freaky good luck so we were due for some bad luck. Can't complain.
Former TFC standout Richie Laryea absolutely dominated. I can't believe he can't crack Nottingham Forest's lineup. They must have terrific players for a Championship side.
Hopefully, we can take care of business on Sunday at home against Jamaica. It's suppose to be absurdly cold in Toronto so that should help.Last edited by bhurst99; 03-26-2022, 12:35 AM.Comment

We're going to the World Cup. Woot!
I'm old enough to remember Canada qualifying last time in 1986 and getting blanked in three straight World Cup losses.
Really happy for a dude like Abita Hutchinson who has been playing for the national squad since 2004, played for some truly bad teams and is like a six-time Canadian men's player of the year. He's 39 now and must have soaked up the atmosphere in Toronto today since he was born and raised in nearby Brampton. I know at one point the crowd was chanting his name.Comment

Me too! I was 8 years young watching on CBC with Graham Leggat and Steve Armitage. Moved to Canada in 1981 from England. Diego Maradona with the hand of God in the Quarter-Finals against The Three Lions still haunts me, lol.Comment

Yesterday was another example of how bush-league international matches in Africa are.

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
Got together with about a dozen folks to watch the Hearts-Rangers Scottish Cup final this morning. Friend originally from Edinburgh has a bunch of us brainwashed, ha.
Hearts hung with them going into the break, but Rangers had another gear in the 2nd half that Hearts couldn’t match. Which was a bit surprising considering they just went to pens on Wednesday.
Hearts we’re fortunate to get it to extra time but couldn’t keep Rangers off the board. 2-0 final.Comment

Third time's the charm; Leipzig wins their first major trophy. Domenico Tedesco did a great job at salvaging the season; managed to get a trophy, a CL spot and a run to the EL Semis. If Lewandowski leaves Bayern and Leipzig can keep Nkunku, maybe they can make a run at the league.Comment
