Slightly more attacking in this game than I expected, though both teams sort of playing it safe.

Also that tackle was probably the only thing Jones could do. If he brings Hazard down outside the box it’s a red, and if he doesn’t make a tackle Hazard likely scores.

There was a 0% chance of that Final being enjoyable for me, and I'm glad I skipped it. Everything from the clubs involved to Martin Tyler's commentary threatening to make a match between two teams trying to out 1-0 each other even more of a snoozefest. Though if I was forced to pick a winner, the right club won.

Saw a lot of neutrals complaining about the game but I don’t know what they expected.

            Exactly.

And to be fair to Tyler, he does still have his moments. In fact, one of my favorite Liverpool goal calls this season is from him - even though his commentary for the game was not what the US got.

            Mane goal vs. City:

He's just been doing it too long, he's seen everything at this point.

He only really gets excited now if there is a strong narrative (Martial goal vs Liverpool etc.), but other than that he can't really be bothered most of the time.

I think he probably either needs to retire, or maybe just take a nice break for a little while. Maybe take a year off and just relax. Not sure if even that would help him tbh, but I sort of feel that the longer he continues like this, the more his legacy takes a hit.

I don't think he could necessarily destroy his legacy or anything that dramatic, but if he keeps this same energy for another few years then a lot of younger viewers will remember him as the boring old guy, and older viewers who listened to him during his good years will mostly be sad we had to hear him sort of anti-climactically fizzle out (and then carry on long after that).

Winter break in February starting 19-20 official. FA Cup replays after the 4th round are gone as well. And starting this year the EFL cup will go straight to penalties after 90 minuets and revert back to alternating chances.

The ABBA penalty format was stupid, glad they nixed it.

I’m not used to sensible decisions made by the FA.

                    Bout damn time though

Don’t forget they did implement their own separate transfer window in the summer so they’re not completely out of the woods yet.

I mean, reverting the penalty format is pretty dumb as well.

People didn't like the ABBA format because they felt it made it less tense, but literally all statistical evidence has it objectively better than the traditional format.

Team going first had like a 64% win rate. The reason for the change to ABBA was fairness, the reason for the change back is ?????

Anyway, these are pretty good changes. Also, I still have 100% faith in the FA's incompetence.
