Raphael Honigstein mentioned a few days ago that Dortmund internally were not as worried about the CL this year, and would much rather be focusing on winning the league this year and doing more next year. So, in some way, they were surely prepared to exit the competition.

However, not a chance in hell they were imagining it to be this way. Goodness.
