Re: 2019-20 UEFA Competitions Thread
Simeone doesn’t deserve any credit for that win. His plan was failing, Liverpool were looking more likely to score a third. Their first came when they hit the ball long and it was picked up easily. Yet again, a goalkeeper cost Liverpool in a big moment.
And I’m not on the Adrian hype train. He’s made some huge errors this season and he should’ve done better for all the goals tonight. He isn’t good enough and we just have to hope we never really have to use him.Comment

The magic number is 6 points won/dropped by City. They’ll eventually be playing in front of empty stadiums.Comment

Juventus Daniele Rugani tested positive. I can't see them playing their Champions League game next week since I assume his teammates would have to be quarantined. I wouldn't be surprised if the tourney is suspended for at least a couple weeks.Comment

I think the 2nd leg vs Lyon is in Turin. No way they fly the players and staff into that situation.

It's all very amusing when literally the whole world knew exactly what Atletico was gonna do. I know neither Klopp nor Simeone are ones for quick chop and change, but it's surprising Klopp didn't have another plan in his back pocket if Simeone's was successful. Atletico was always going to rely on Oblak, and really, much like Alisson, when you have someone who's mother and father were both walls, you can do that. Either way, Atletico keep getting away with their brand of football.Support Local Sports

I don’t really think they needed a plan B tbh tho Suntan. They had over 40 shots combined in both legs. They just didn’t take their chances as well as Atletico did. That wasn’t even peak Atletico shenanigans. I expected more from Diego tbh.

I mean, not like a change it up completely plan b, but just a different form of attack. It's clear they weren't breaking the Oblak wall the way they were going.Support Local Sports

Are you telling me that having fullbacks as your only creative outlet slinging crosses into the box non-stop is not good enough and that at some point something different must be attempted?
Personally, I think it's a shame that Atletico didn't adjust their tactics to suit what works best for Liverpool. Fair is fair, and Atletico should've been forced to open up and allow Liverpool even more opportunities to score—it's only right. Maybe Klopp has a point and Simeone didn't get the memo that his was to bring his squad to Anfield and follow the dream script. What a monster.Comment

It’s almost like you’re all ignoring the fact that we were 2-0 up and Atletico’s only response was to hit it long straight to our defenders.
Their first goal literally came from them losing the ball and they were bailed out by the keeper. Not from some Simeone masterclass where they scored on a lethal counter after we had been knocking on the door for an hour.Comment
