Re: EURO 2020
Criminal pk decisions. Lane needs to go about 4th, not 1st. Sterling, Grealish not taking penalties is shocking. I have no problem with Rashford taking one as he’s taken many big penalties for club. Sako is like 12 and Sanchez didn’t even really get one touch and sent on for that. Very odd.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Re: EURO 2020
As someone who has watched him often for the last several seasons, I’m gutted for Saka and massively annoyed at how much attention his miss will get.
It was a great save, as opposed to Rashford’s absurd attempt. When three penalties are missed, focusing on the last is stupid, but it’ll happen.
Prepare for the disturbingly inevitable racist abuse of Rashford, Sancho, and Saka.
Our boy is already getting it to the extent Arsenal had to put out an official statement.
I love soccer, but sometimes I also ****ing hate it and it’s fans.

Re: EURO 2020
I was happy to see Roy Keane point this out. I think we all know by now how penalties often work and if either of them wanted a spot, they’d have it.
Also, Southgate admitted after the match the reason he didn’t bring on Rashford or Sancho earlier was he was trying to hold on for penalties.
Put him in charge of any other side and they definitely do not make it as far.Comment

I like Kane going 1st. For me that’s the pressure spot. You miss that 1st kick and every penalty after becomes magnified.
Grealish came out today and said he wanted to take but was overruled l smh.

Re: EURO 2020
With as much experience England and London specifically have with holding large football events, the organization of that game was shockingly poor. The fact that those without tickets were able to literally get inside the stadium is insane.Comment

Re: EURO 2020
No matter what happens their footballing English Exceptionalism always rises to the surface.
I love that it was Mancini that orchestrated England's loss (not to take too much credit away from Southgate), as I always felt he was predictably looked down upon by English press especially during his time at Man City.Comment

Re: EURO 2020
I’ve always looked at the first spot as the least pressure. Every pk situation requires a goalkeeper save regardless of anything. You miss first and yes it does step up things but there still are four more rounds after so it’s not exactly the same as missing later on. You still walk away after a first miss assuming your keeper will get you one back eventually. Just my opinion though.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Re: EURO 2020
Watched that at a pub where a bunch of kids from the local team were watching. Team is made up of college players from across the country. Most of them from England, Ireland, N Ireland, with some from places like S Africa and Mexico.
So there were about five English guys, and slightly fewer in the team with anyone-but-England interests. Listening to them during the match was high comedy. One of the Irish guys celebrated Italy's goal as if Ireland had just won the World Cup.
Too bad I left before ET because I'm sure the scenes during the shootout were hilarious.
Actually had a pretty good turnout. Must have been around 50 in there watching.
That save by Pickford on Jorginho was absolutely insane.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-12-2021, 01:32 PM.Comment
