When you need someone to create a goal you can always count on Cristiano to take one for the team and hit the deck. Nobody creates their own goals quite like him.

Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
The CBs, namely Christensen haven’t been great like they were early on but the biggest issue apart from the downgrade to Alonso has been the midfield. Injuries have killed us. Not having someone next to Jorginho who can move exposed him, especially since he’s playing on a bum hip. Teams have been able to play right through us centrally.
Kovacic and Kante will be back for the tough January stretch though.
Tbh, all three of us (Liverpool, Chelsea and City) look tired and we’re headed into the busy period. It’s going to be exhausting.

Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
Seeing the penalties that were called in some of the other matches this weekend, if the Pool-Villa match were called the same way, there would have been 3 total penalties for Liverpool and 1 for Villa. The 3 non-calls in the match were probably better shouts for a penalty than any of ones called in other matches lol. The one that was actually called was blatant. Mings just threw himself onto the back of Mo's legs for some reason.
If the incident involving Alisson had been called on the field, I don't think VAR could have overturned it.Comment

I didn’t see any of the Liverpool game apart from the highlights but yeah the leg sweep by Mings was absolutely idiotic by Mings who for the life of me I can’t understand why/how he continues to get picked for the England squad.
Also the handball and first yellow on Jimenez in the City/Wolves game were terrible calls. I know Moutinho’s arm was in an unnatural position but it clearly hit his armpit/side.

Mings had an incredible match up to that point actually. He’s pretty good every time I watch him.Comment

Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
Now and then Mings has a bit of the Soyuncu to him, I think. You seem to notice him a lot, doing good things a lot, but that's not always a good thing, because maybe he's doing those things because he didn't do something else.
So, making great tackles, but you had to make them due to being out of position.Comment

I dunno, it depends if they would look back to the catalyst of the whole incident which was Ings pushing Matip into Alisson.
Giving too much credit to English refs though to think they’d consider that.

Re: 2021-2022 English Football Thread
Things are just a mess right now.
Leicester says they have 9 fully healthy players right now but the FA won’t reschedule the match because Spurs already postponed the Burnley match due to snow and the Brighton/Rennes games due to COVID.

(Not saying they're leading the way or anything, I just hear more about what they're doing than elsewhere.)

Also, I believe Leicester City have nine players missing, not only nine players fully healthy.Comment
