Re: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

I want a Morocco v Croatia finals! Five me the to underdogs fighting it out!

I like Messi and that's a good storyline for him to go out on top but I want the underdog final.

Mbappe don't care for him, so by extension I can't root for France.

I don't see how Croatia is or was an underdog. They're defending runners up, and their record over the years is very good to great.

With all due respect to Brazil, people say Brazil bc Brazil.

Morocco is shades of Greece and Porto in the Euros and CL... teams like this have won before...

Argentina is playing their best football ever in the Messi era... seem much more threatening and solid and confident than pervious iterations.

        Giroud. Giraud..

As for England...I don't like sending the same pk dude twice.

I would've loved for Gareth Southgate to face the media and answer the question "Why didn't you use arguably the best penalty taker in the world" if whomever he chose instead missed it instead of Kane. That'd be a pure "Sacked In the Morning" choice. I'm as big of a Harry Kane ***** you'll find this side of Kreb, and I'm gonna watch that pen sail over the bar a million times, but I don't think it would've been wise to choose anyone else in that situation.

He had no other options really, even looking at the numbers. The next best penalty taker based on conversion rate would've been Marcus Rashford at 86% (1% higher than Kane), but his conversion rate is based on 48 less attempts. Also, the abuse Rashford would receive for missing would've been much worse than the current situation we are in.

England and their fans should be proud of their performance. They left it all out on the field, created chances, and more. Unfortunately, they made a couple of mistakes and France made them pay. France has shown in this tournament that if you neutralize Mbappe and don't make mistakes (easier said than done), then France can be beaten.

That penalty was shaky. I’ve seen those not given in the past considering he got the shot off and Lovren was gonna get to it first.

That counter was a thing of beauty.

Fully expect Croatian shenanigans before this one is over, though.

                  Lol, never mind.

Several French players coming up sick before the semifinal.

A lot of respiratory stuff going around in Qatar.

I think that's a pen, if he just continues his run he gets fouled by the GK, so by not giving him a pen you're penalizing him for trying to get a shot off and avoid it. It's one of those where you're right in that they normally don't give it, but if diving is a problem we're actually trying to get rid of, I think those are the calls that need to be made. Otherwise it's just always better to go down.

Argentina just had too much class today, Croatia never recovered after conceding that second goal.

I thought for much of the 1st half Croatia won the mid-field battle and opened up Argentina's defense, but they couldn't crack the last line of defense and the attacks bogged down allowing Argentina to get people behind and then spring counter attacks.

Croatia missed Mandzukic from 4 years ago. There's just really no one to replace him.

It's going to really suck if Messi loses another World Cup final lol. His last shot.

                              Underrated striker for sure.

Croatia has had a dynasty... it will be interesting to see if they can keep it going... but they deserve an awful lot of respect and to be mentioned among the powers of this generation

CNN recently posted a pretty good, concise editorial on this: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/12/12/f...d-cup-spt-intl. This WC has finally got me interested in their league because I'd like to see where a lot of the young guys come from and how the country is able to develop players so well.
