I get it, but I honestly don't get it how anyone could be fine with City winning it. I know, I know, oh Real Madrid are so evil too blah blah blah. **** that noise.

The itch that could never be scratched of Pep never winning it with City would be incredible because **** that club. If City losing today meant Madrid won it the next ten years, cool. I'd rather they didn't, but the absolute lesser of two evils.

What a complete embarrassment for Madrid. The entire mood of the club for months has been the towel was thrown in on the league but they would find a way to win the Champions League.

I didn't think they would but to see them just get absolutely killed was just shameful for all involved.

City might as well win it now in the hopes that Pep gets bored and moves on to a different challenge or the owners pull back on the lavish spending.

Just curious but what’s the downside to them winning, again?

Yeah I'm kinda disappointed that some of yall are happy that Madrid lost. Sports-washing aside, they're literally on the verge of global domination as long as Pep stays. Now if City winning the UCL with City mean he'll leave then fine but City winning a European Cup and their most recent trophy haul is going to overshine all the "Main Road" days.

I think you support United right Pack. Well you're their biggest rivals and are encroaching upon Liverpool status for you. They've been the best side in the league since SAF retired. They have the best manager in the world AND the deepest pockets. When they win the treble this year they're going to do it in a much more dominating way than the '99 United team did. Not as dramatic but just a different level.

City has won so much hardware at this point, but it still feels like their lack of overall history or rabid fanbase makes them a constant "lesser of evils" choice, regardless of who the alternative is. That's been the case in the premier league for years now. People would rather they win than Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, etc. I def would rather they win the UCL than teams like Barca, Bayern, Liverpool, Inter or whoever.

It’s hard for me to gin up the same amount of hatred for teams/players in Europe compared to the teams I’ll always actively root for their demise(Bears, Cowboys, Knicks, Celtics).

I’ve always been a fan of Pep going back to his Barca days and I like De Bruyne, so for me, I would like to see them have some success in Europe. But I’m not looking at it as some cardinal sin/“OMG them winning is bad for the sport”/“They’re too rich and have too many good players, it shouldn’t be fair if they win” thing.

****, I would’ve been cool with anyone as long as it wasn’t RM winning it again.

So, there's is where I wonder how far people go. Looking at others who made it to the knockout phase, would you rather City win than Napoli, Dortmund, or Benfica? Those are clubs with rich history, although different from the others listed.

Inter won Serie A in 21/22 but prior to that they hadn't won a trophy since the Coppa Italia in 10/11 and prior to that was their treble in 09/10.

I get the parity is great, but City winning anything at this point is not parity. Villa and Brighton challenging for European places is parity. Union Berlin making somewhat of a title challenge in Germany is parity.

City winning anything is only slightly a different type of status quo that most seem to be against. Just because their history isn't as long doesn't mean we're not seeing the start of what will become their own history of annoying and apathy inducing dominance.

It's all ****ed really, damned if we do, don't etc.

Loved seeing the ball hit the back of the net for Sevilla in extra time but ugh, headed by Lamela.

Did it have to be him?

Happened to be in Basel tonight, so I took in their UECL semi against Fiorentina. High drama!

I’m absolutely not opposed to hating but let’s keep it accurate in here at least lads.

City does a lot of things but lavish spending isn’t one of them.

From 2/1/22 to 1/31/23 they paid £51.56m in agent fees—more than any club in the Premier League (Chelsea were the next highest at £43.16m).

Just because others are paying larger wages and transfer fees does not mean City don't throw around their money—lavishly.

Their overall spend though is still lower than a lot of teams, like I’m pretty sure they aren’t even in the top 10.

Lavish spending is what I’d say clubs like United/PSG/Chelsea/Barca have been doing.
