It's not that they couldn't spend....they tried to get Pavy and Babel, but Spurs and Liverpool wanted more money even though both players barely got a game

The new owner should have never opened his mouth. Saying he was going to spend 40 million pounds in January was just like saying ''please everyone drive up the prices on me because I have so much money''.

I bet McLeishes mouth hit the floor when the owner said that.

Agreed. That was the major issue there.

Yes. Maybe it was a good thing they didn't go crazy in January, then. Shows he won't roll over easy.

Here's hoping to a big summer

I was kind of hoping they were serious about buying Pavluychenko for £9-11M, but that never materialized.

I don't buy the fact that Birmingham will be big spenders in the prem, until they actually splash the cash around & prove it.

They have a solid squad, and in all honesty they are probably better off not over spending & risk upsetting the squad harmony.

They were serious about Pav. I even believed they offered 15 million for him but Spurs still wanted to price gouge, so Birmingham walked away from the table and nobody could blame them.

I understand this argument for the winter transfer window, but not the summer.

Absolutely. They should spend some in the summer if they are 100% serious & committed to spending & contending.

Manchester United have signed Javier Hernandez from Mexican side Chivas.

And will also play in new Chivas Stadium in July. First mexican they have ever signed, and first time in Mexico as well.

Milan's sad state in world football....

Emmanuel Adebayor's agent insists that AC Milan could no longer afford to buy his client.

Adebayor was strongly linked with Milan before he left Arsenal for City last summer.

Again the Italian giants are said to be keen on taking him to the San Siro - but Adebayor's agent admits this would not be possible.

"The player has signed a five-year contract with Manchester City and was an expensive purchase," he told Tuttomercato.

"He has a high wages that do not fall within the parameters of AC Milan, moreover, he is dong quite well [in Manchester]. The trains only pass in football once, Adebayor was close to Milan two years ago, but not any more.

"Manchester City paid almost 28 million euro, they do not intend to sell him and these days Milan are not interested in players that cost that much.

"They are trying to sign players on a free [transfer] or within specific figures. This hypothesis [Adebayor to Milan] is impossible."
                      Sad, sad, sad.

According to skysports, Liverpool are said to have agreed to signing midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Charlton for 3 million. Shelvey is 18 years old and one of the top prospects at the moment

Shelvey rejected approaches from Chelsea and the transfer is to be completed when the season ends.

For those of you who don't play a lot of Football Manager, Shelvey is a solid solid prospect and Liverpool have come away with a nice coup

With the way Liverpool have been developing players recently. I'm not really worried about him becoming that good.

LMAO!!! Well, to be fair, Rafa restructured the academy this year and has stated that he wants to develop youth a la Wenger. Shelvey is going to be good IMHO and hopefully, he made the right choice.

Apparently ZM, Arsenal might be interested in Balotelli....as much talent as this kid has, he's such a baby and I'm not sure I want him at Arsenal
