    Re: The Transfer Thread

    Everything's happening!

From Daniel Taylor's (of The Guardian) twitter:

Stories about Wayne Rooney asking for a transfer are correct. Asked to see Ferguson two weeks ago, request was rejected #mufc
Also makes a mockery - again - of all those pledges of loyalty in the face of newspaper stories about his future <s>#</s>rooney <s>#</s>mufc

Huge news from Ligue 1. La Sexta—a seemingly reliable Spanish television station—reported Thursday night that Radamel Falcao, the highly sought-after striker from Atletico Madrid, has agreed to terms on a €60 million move to Monaco (per 101 Great Goals).
This, after months of rumours suggesting that the 27-year-old Colombian was being courted by English sides Manchester United and Chelsea, among others.
We'll continue to monitor the wires, but this would be huge news if it is to be believed.
Falcao has scored 27 goals in 32 La Liga matches this season for Atleti and a total of 53 since arriving from Porto in the summer of 2011.
But the expectation for months has been that Falcao would be moving to a larger European side.
As much as Monaco seems like an odd destination, there are several reasons it would make sense.
First, though "Les Rouge et Blanc" have struggled in recent years, falling into Ligue 2 in 2011, they have earned promotion back into Ligue 1 for next season.
Second, they have a very wealthy owner in Russian Dmitry Rybolovlev, who will likely spare no expense in bringing the club back to credibility.
Finally, La Sexta suggests that Falcao's contract at Monaco would pay him €10 million a season. And with Monaco's tax rate, that's a whole lot of euros remaining in his pockets.
More information as it comes in.

Its going to be scary to see what a Billionaire can do with a club based in a small rich country with no taxes.

I wouldn't be shocked to him Falcao go to AS Monaco at all. As long as Monaco has a league to play in next season.

That would be insane Falcao to Monaco.

yeah, i have been hearing falcao to monaco, too. another forum i go on, there is a french guy that said its starting to pick up steam over there and that it could happen. monaco just sealed their promotion to ligue 1 earlier today, too.

i also read that they will have up to 200 million available for transfers and they will likely attract some top players because they have no personal income tax and can pay players more than french clubs. i read an article a couple months back saying monaco are targeting nasri and tevez, too.

One reason behind the Falcao buy, could be some pre-existing agreement with Real Madrid in which Monaco will then sell Falcao to Real, as he currently has a clause in his contract with Atletico which prevents him moving directly from Atletico to Real.

Now that I can believe then.

Looks like I may be wrong as Victor Valdes has told Barca that he wants to go to Monaco.
Which could mean the Falcao move is so Falcao actually does stay at Monaco.

Last night I saw on FSC or Sky, don't remember which, David Villa to Spurs.

They made it sounds like this was a pretty sure move for about 12M transfer.

I know we're (Barca) gonna look to dump him this summer, but I hope it's for a bit more than 12.

Tevez is also linked to Monaco although I read of the French Football Federation taking some measures that all clubs have to be based in France by the end of 2013-14 for tax purposes, which is seen as a direct strike against AS Monaco since they right now have the advantage of offering tax free income.
