This situation does illustrate what always comes up: someone says a club is crazy to not just take the money and sign other players, or sign a replacement.

The issue is there's not another Salah out there, and even if you sign multiple players, it doesn't mean it works out. There really are some players who are invaluable to a squad—or nearly invaluable.

They could have had him 2 1/2 months ago. Liverpool “has to” take this and bring in the possibility of losing out on like £100M of CL money? That makes zero sense. Come back early next summer and we’ll talk.

But it's all but guaranteed that Salah will join them next summer, if not the summer after for free so the question becomes, how much sense does it make to keep him and lose him at a reduced fee (next year) or for free (the year after).

yeah the timing of their bid is def strange. It's not like Salah hasn't been the biggest Muslim player in the world for quite some time. Where was this bid over the summer???

Here's where I disagree though. The initial offer of 100-150 is smart of Liverpool to turn down but 220 with ~150-175 guaranteed up front more than makes up for the money from the Champions League spots which to be honest, you would IMO make anyway considering there are 5 spots now and spots 3-5 is a crapshoot with Chelsea, United, and Newcastle still suck in neutral.

Personally, I don't think Liverpool are challenging for the title this year but I do think they easily make the Top 5 WITH or WITHOUT Salah. If there's one area that Liverpool has depth in abundance it's attack. Now whether or not FSG will invest that Salah profit back into the club is a crapshoot but I think the pressure from the fans would make them, especially knowing they bid 100+ for Caicedo.

Long story short, it's a great situation for Liverpool. They hold all the cards right now.

There’s also the fact that an actual person is involved here. If Salah wanted to go play in a league about 5 levels below him right now, he’d already be gone. He can go make that obscene money whenever he wants to at this point.

Also, bet you thought Liverpool was a shoo-in for top 4 last year. Absolutely nothing is guaranteed in this league.

Jordan Henderson seems close to giving up his noble quest of ending the illegality of homosexuality in Saudi Arabia.

I saw somewhere that Henderson is having to pay like 4 million pounds to terminate his Saudi contract and he had deferred the wages he was to be paid for tax purposes in the UK, so good luck ever seeing the rest of that money lol.

And now Benzema wants out too.

Ehh we'll see, I guess. But I hope so if for nothing else that I'm tired of this saga.

Kylian Mbappé has decided to join Real Madrid once his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires this summer, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The news was first reported by Le Parisien.

PSG quietly has a nice little youth project going on but then you look at what Reql has been stockpiling the last 3yrs and you’re like “hmm…their youth project is like the current/future France and Brazil squads” .

Had he done it 2 years ago like we all thought they could have gotten Halaand last year but that $ was too much to turn down.

Julian Alvarez is off to Atletico for an absurd 75 mil.

It really looks like City knows what's coming in terms of their 115 charges. Apart from the shady signing of Savio who was agreed pretty much before last season started they haven't made any moves.
