Re: The Transfer Thread
I was gutted to see Ozil leave. I knew the writing was on the wall when Isco signed but the Bale move has made him expendable. While I'm happy to have Bale I worry if Perez is doing his meddling and letting good players go for the sake of selling more shirts. I hate that he went to Arsenal but wish him all the best. I will cheer him on still. I just hope Ozil doesn't become the Makelele of Perez's 2nd reignComment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Try telling that to Ed Woodward and David Moyes.
Want Fellaini? Could've triggered his clause a month ago! This window has been a farce for Man. United. Publicly chasing Fabregas to no avail; missing out on other great targets (Strootman); bidding for Fellaini/Baines until we paid more just for one; and NOT EVEN TRYING TO SIGN OZIL.
On the bright side, I hope this allows Kagawa to take the 10 role and probably have United line up in a 4-3-1-2.
I never realized how much Fergie's absence could hurt transfers, but I think this Summmer should it at least had some effect.
Someone should tell Moyes there are more options than chasing your previous players for three months.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Well Kreb it _looks_ like Ozil would have rather played for United, but for some reason United didnt make an approach or didnt meet Madrid's valuation or probably made a bid for Bebe again.
And the story of Ander Herrera seems to quite the tale. Something about up imposters showing up, or low-balling or Bebe eating at Mcdonalds.
Quite the clown show.Comment

There is no doubt in my mind that a player would choose United over Arsenal given where the two clubs are currently at. However, the managers still could've played a role. Playing for Ferguson is much different than coming to United to play for Moyes.
Ozil has said he had long phone conversations with Wenger. Take that for what you will, as it's just as likely it's just him saying all the right things about his new club.
I'm just happy we spent some of the money we've been banking for years.
I bet when Kroenke finds out he'll have a heart attack.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Saw this on today's Sky ticker:
Besiktas vice-president Nuri Cebi is reported as saying that a deal to take Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner to Turkey on loan has been agreed and will be completed shortly.
We are working towards completing the deal, we have agreed personal terms with Alexander Buttner. We have also reached an agreement with Manchester United, and we will complete the loan transfer within the next one to two days.
Wonder if this will actually go through now the Coentrao deal fell through? Does Moyes have faith in Fabio as back up for Evra?
EDIT: Just found this that shows that there are still some country's transfer windows still open. So you could still see the likes of Adebayor leave for Russia or somewhere.

Re: The Transfer Thread
Levy: This is excellent, I am glad we could sit down and discuss the special partnership our two clubs agreed upon. This is very exciting.
Perez: It sure is
Levy: So where do we begin?
Perez: Well, basically we are going to take your best player for the next two seasons, and then sell one of the best AMs on the planet to your mortal enemy
Levy: Ermm...what
Perez: Yeah. So any questions?
Levy: So which players do we get in return?
Perez: Umm, probably none. Why?
Levy: Dude! This is BS, I'm going to fight you as long as I can on this!
Perez: LOL, here comes the best part
Arsenal and RM supporters: *** **** DIRTBAG SPURS
Levy: Is this real life?
Perez: Rofl this soccer stuff is so easy
Levy: How is this a special partnership again?
Perez: We used quotations.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Now we know how important Ferguson and Gill were in transfers....
Woodward's problem is that he alienated other clubs instead of trying to build relationships in obtaining transfer targets. Plus, he insulted with silly bids that no club was going to accept. £28 million for both Fellaini and Baines was silly and did the club no favours.
The whole fiasco with Herrera also leaves a bad taste regardless of what happened. The bottom line is that the player didn't join.
It's funny for me as an Arsenal fan, but United fans I know aren't happy.
On the subject of Moyes though - he needs to play Kagawa. How Giggs and Young start over him is ridiculous. He's too talented to not play IMHOComment
