Lyon have announced they've rejected a £29m bid for Lacazette from Arsenal, and insisted that they will not sell him.

I believe they'll sell, but it will be for more, and it may not be to Arsenal.

      Shows some intent, though.

Insultingly low offer, if true IMO.

Eh, all part of negotiations, but also it's Arsenal we're talking about, ha.

Higuain to Juve for 75 million. So expect Pogba to go to United in the next couple days.

West Ham supposedly offered £34 million and it was turned down. We got a ways to go to get Lyon to talk unless he pushes the move

Unreal fee--but with a potential sell of Pogba, this is an easy pill to swallow.

Arsenal could've paid that, I think I'm glad they didn't though. That is heaps of cash.

To be fair, Juve could afford that even without selling Pogba.

They are trying to win the Champions League and a partnership of Higuain and Dybala could potentially be pretty nuts.

They could also be trying to convince Pogba to stay.

There are reports that the Pogba transfer talks aren't going so smoothly. Still expect it to happen, but there are disputes over who's paying what agent fee and whatnot.

I only said that because of an article I read yesterday. Which I now can't find of course. I saw it on 90min.com though. But it said that they were going to sign Higuain and then ship out Pogba.

Higuain for 75m, at his age?

Every time these figures pop up, I can't help but think how big of a bargain Madrid got Ronaldo from us.

Finally; I haven't disagreed with Leon in like a while and was beginning to get a little worried.

Honestly, while the fee itself is huge, Higuain is the type of player you are supposed to pay out the wazoo for. He's 28, which means he's in his prime, he's going to get you over 30 goals per season, and will probably do so until his contract runs out. Players don't just fall off a cliff when they hit 30, and he will be 32 at the end of his contract in a league that loves older players.

The reason players like Pogba/Martial/Sterling are expensive is because they are young, so you are paying for potential. With players like Higuain, the potential has already been reached, and you are paying for guaranteed output.

Also, Ronaldo isn't a good example really. I mean, he WAS a bargain for RM, but only because he turned out to be one of the best players of all time. That's really the only way you can call that deal a bargain, otherwise it's just a good purchase.

Ronaldo was just entering his prime (24-25) when he was sold; was a Ballon d'Or winner; multiple individual accolades with Man. United; won the league 4 times, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League; scored 42 goals in the double winning campaign of 2008 and ~22 in an injury hit final campaign in 2009. Ronaldo was already one of THE BEST players (not just positionally) in the world -- he wasn't just a good purchase.

Higuain's price really just shows how far we've come in player valuation ever since Madrid started "overpaying" (back then) left, right and center during Florentino's second Galactico run.

Nice to know you included Martial on that list. I don't have the energy to look if you also called him a "waste of money."
