Coutinho will be the best CM in the league this year.

It's funny how Coutinho was being targeted to keep Neymar happy. Maybe they forgot Neymar left last week. Lol

I agree though that Dortmund can't turn down 130 million for Dembele. I'm not sure they'll turn down anything north of 100. He definitely made the wheels turn last weekend against Bayern, but they're fairly deep in the midfield either way.

Good point about cup-tieing him next week. Would be great to see play vs Hoff and still go to Barca. Win-win for us non Pool/Barca fans.

He's def not the ideal replacement for Neymar but he can play out there and take over the #8 for Iniesta since his legs are getting heavy with mileage.

Barca needs MF help more than they need a Neymar replacement IMO. Without lively legs flanking Busquets they're whole pressing system falls apart against top sides. He cuts inside enough to play out wide too assuming Alba has enough in his legs to overlap.

Probably. That still doesn't make it a smart purchase though.

When all is said and done, they are trying to spend 150m+ on Coutinho when they could have had Ceballos for less than half that, and Thiago for free.

Starting to think Barca's board are all secretly Real Madrid supporters.

Dembélé to Barca is seeming more and more likely as he missed a training session yesterday "without permission."

And now Dortmund are saying he's been suspended.

Hrmm. Top quality LB at a North London club unhappy they aren't being paid properly while a blue-tinted rival lurks in the background.

Feel like I've seen this somewhere before.

Yeah he is pretty much gone to Barca at this point.

Nope doesn't seem to ring a bell here.

I just gotta say if the transfer window is crazy this year I don't even want to imagine what it will be like next year. Young players with just one good year are so hyped and the asking price is just nuts. It may make me sound like a dinosaur and definitely has been said before but I don't like where modern football has been going for the past few years. It isn't going to get any better btw just worst.

Combination of inflation and top clubs desperate not to miss out on the next big thing.

After Ronaldo's first season at United, he would have likely gone for a fee most back then would have considered wild. Hazard's price was seen as crazy when we bought him as well.

It's really only Mbappe and Dembele that are insanely priced for young players, and that is because they are considerably better than players usually are at that age.

To me, the real crimes are happening a bit lower down on the transfer ladder. 30m for Michael Keane, 50m for Gylfi Sigurdsson etc. Watford just paid nearly 20m for Andre Effing Gray rofl, that's outrageous.

Klopp better hope that Coutinho isn't the sulking type. Dude's 25 and has a proven value. Not much pressure to prove anything.

Everybody close has said he would like to play for Barca but he's also happy at Liverpool because he knows Liverpool saved his career.

I think of it as humanly as possible. Liverpool is the team I support and I'd love to play for them. I'd also love to play for Real Madrid, not because I like the club but because I like the style the team plays with.

Not worried one bit. Your spot in the Brazil national team is never guaranteed. It's a World Cup year. Even if he was the "sulking type" (which I don't really peg him as), he has plenty reason to stay sharp this season.

He will get his chance to play at Barcelona soon enough. It just won't be this year, and I think he's fine with that.

Personally, I think that if Coutinho doesn't go to Barca this season he won't go at all.

Just too many variables, Barca being desperate, and possibly even a board change before the season is out. Barca look like they will get Dembele, who imo will more than likely be an adequate replacement for Neymar in the next couple seasons. Once they do that, I suspect they will be feeling a bit less desperate, and probably less likely to want to spend 150m+ on a CM who hasn't even been playing CM for that long.

By next summer Barca could have a brand new board and a new direction, one that could realize spending that much money on Coutinho is nuts.
