I hate when players sign new deals and then request a transfer a year later. It seems it is becoming more and more common now.

Tbf it does depend on the situation.

Sometimes players will sign a new contract so their club can get a better transfer fee, although that usually ends up backfiring (Zaha, Mahrez) because clubs really shouldn’t be trusted.

I do agree it’s pretty dumb when a player does what Griezmann did though.

Yeah, I'm glad both Suarez and Coutinho signed new deals right before they requested out because the transfer fees skyrocketed.

Well I mean Suarez was always going to leave.

That was closer to a Zaha situation that actually worked out. Coutinho obviously more of a Griezmann.

Athletico claims they have evidence Barca tapped him up and signed him to a deal back in March when the release clause was 200 million. This is gonna be good.

Yeah...only part of it is done, haha. And I'm sure that's 100% true, and I hope Barca have to throw €80m.

Barca and less than honorable transfer dealings go together like spaghetti and meatballs.

Harry Maguire's nationality seems to have been enough to make his transfer the world-record for a defender.

Leicester continues doing great business—sign Maguire for £17m—two years later they sell him for £80m.

I thought the bids were rejected?

As some might know from way back, Aston Villa were my first true love. Seeing them come back to the EPL is amazing.

Made some good signings too. Douglas Luiz and Wesley chief among them.

I was too excited to praise them, I guess. Looks like they want £90m.

My favorite part is United "insisting they will not overpay" haha. Dudes, you already offered £70m...that could be considered slightly overpaying.

Still seems like it'll eventually be done, though.

Looks like Juve is about to finalize a transfer for de Ligt. Their failure in the Champions League this year will be even more hilarious with all the signings they have made.

Boy this would sure be some kind of timeline:

Summer 2017 - Coutinho wants to leave to Barcelona and fakes a back injury to try and force a move. It is refused. He comes back and actually gives 100%, is one of the team's best players, gets CL Cup tied by Liverpool.

January 2018 - Coutinho asks again to be transferred to Barcelona, is actually injured but everyone assumes he's faking. Liverpool transfer him to Barcelona for up to 140M. Coutinho says he wants to go to Barca to win Champions Leagues.

January 2018-July 2019 - Liverpool use the Coutinho money to plug the last two holes in their squad. They become even better without him. 2 Champions League finals, wage an actual title race vs. the greatest team assembled in EPL history, 1 Champions League win. Coutinho, while contributing to two league titles is booed and everyone hates him. He is not a happy Philippe.

Summer 2019 - Liverpool sign Coutinho on a 2-year loan with option to buy for 88M.
