Re: The Transfer Thread
If we're going to consistently challenge for what we want to win, we need all of the top players we can get. I don't know about you but, for example, I'm not all that thrilled with going out of the FA Cup in the 4th/5th round every year. We got pretty lucky with injuries last year too. If he wants to come back I'm all for it. He won't require any kind of fitting in, he's got old friend and teammates here. Players don't think of transfers in the same way fans do.Comment

I think its a bad idea all around. There are better options out there for depth.

Re: The Transfer Thread
I think that's debatable. This is a known commodity who was having his best season for us when he left. Every time you sign a new player there is usually a level of uncertainty, and we skip all that with a deal like this. There is basically no risk here to me. We need to be thinking like Man City, not Arsenal. We have the money, we have the clout, we should be trying to build two XI's like City have while we can.Comment

He fits your system, knows the league, knows the club, and is a proven performer for you guys. It's definitely risky obviously, going all-in on building this current team since City could very well continue to win, but you guys pretty much have to. This is the squad Liverpool has been waiting for, if you guys try to maintain and wait for Pep to leave you risk allowing Chelsea/United to catch up. There are zero guarantees you guys have a squad this good once City's current team falls off, and if anything it's far more likely you guys dip once it has run its course.
Having top-tier players available on the bench has been one of the biggest differences between the European big-boys and Prem teams in the CL, and also one of the reasons City has been winning.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Actually he's been poor since before the World Cup.
Personally I just don't think he's that great of a fullback.Comment

I mean, there are numerous players I'd love to see Arsenal offload for £20m, so I get it.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
On a related note, haggling over a 25m price for Tierney is the most Arsenal thing ever.
He's sort of stagnated a bit, but at 19 he was already genuinely better than Robertson, and he's still more naturally gifted. Tierney was so good at 19 that they played Robertson as a winger. By 20 he had captained both Celtic and Scotland.
Of course no guarantee he can reach his potential, especially after stagnating, but not jumping at a 25m price for a 22 year old that could end up being the best fullback in the world.
Arsenal's backroom is more of a clown fiesta than Chelsea's, which is saying something.Comment
