Sprint for Success the Spokane Spartans

Today NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that there is a new addition to the Northwest division the Spokane Spartans of Spokane Washington State. This is because the Colorado Avalanche have officially buckled.

To make matters worse all Avalanche players have either retired or gone to the elites. To compensate for this the Spartans have had to sign a team of junior players. Superstars include Vancouver Giants players right wing Jeff Shannon and goalie Mitchell Schneider, Michigan State winger Scott Quickel and Quebec Ramparts center Peter Carey.

To round out the staff player owner Jeff Shannon has hired the greatest coach alive the one and only Scotty Bowman as head coach and recently retired Joe Sakic as GM they both hold a 33.3% share in the team making Sakic Bowman and Shannon co-owners.

Bettman made their journey to the NHL a little harder though making them play the Manitoba Moose (away) the AHL champion Chicago Wolves (Home) the NHL champion Detroit Red Wings (Away) the East(Home) and West(Home) NHL All-Stars and the Centennial Montreal Canadiens (Away) In a series of shoot outs.

Because Shannon led the CHL in scoring led the Giants to the Memorial Cup with the C on his chest led Canada to the IIHF World Junior gold medal with the C and captained his All-Star team Coach Bowman decided to make him captain. Mr. Bowman also said that the assistant captains will be based on the shootout play.

Mr. Bowman also got all 82 games to be televised. He struck a deal with Rogers Sportsnet Pacific to have all games aired on a separate channel than the Canucks games. Nick Kypreos will report on everything Spartan and Don taylor will stay on the Canucks.
