Gm Bryan Murray Demoted

Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk announced today that Murray has been demoted to assistant coach. Jack Snieder, former defense man for the AHL's Lowell Devils will take the position. Cory Clouston was hired as the teams head coach prior to the GM deal, preventing Murray from taking that position.

Sens Ink O'Brien to entry-level type deal

Jack Snieders First order of business with the Sens was completed today by signing big American center Jim O'Brien to a 3 year $1 million Deal.

O'Brien has been placed on third line right wing but this is not to be expected for the season opener against Pittsburgh.

Head coach Cory Clouston announced that the team will hold a sort of "playoff" to determine the lines for the beginning of this year.

The Senators have literally bought Alexei Kovalev from the habs in exchange for his contracts price.

Kovalev brings some much needed scoring depth to a team that is known to rely on one line.

Clouston's "Playoffs" Elect new Alternate Captain

The Sens were set to give Danny Heatley the big A for his efforts, Until this morning when Heater took a whack at Phillips for not passing the puck.

Clouston: "unacceptable, if one of your teammates make a mistake you dont attack him, you give him constructive critisism. ESPECIALLY in a pre-season practice, there is only one thing we can be sure of about Danny Heatley, he will not be wearing a letter on the front of his jersey this season"

who will be the Senators new alternate captain?

In an attempt to bring some youth into the fold but still have the scratched players getting ice-time, Sens GM placed Brendan Bell and Christoph Schubert on waivers. The two players were claimed.
