Turmoil Infests Pens; Malkin Wants Out

By Stephen Holley
Anchorage Daily News

It was bound to happen...

It seems as though the Penguins good fortune has thrown them a curve ball as home-grown superstars Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby are butting heads.

Sources close to the team state that Malkin sees himself as a number #1 forward and has become discontented with his secondary role to Sid The Kid, the NHL's glory boy along side with Washington's Alex Ovechkin.

When asked if any interest was there on the part of the Wolverines, team CEO Dave Swanson had this to say:

"Listen...any time a player of Malkins level comes available, every team in the league at least considers their best offer...we are in the league...so what does that tell you?"

Should be an interesting saga...

Stay tuned.

Rumors Surround Wolverines

Hejduk and Tanguay in Wolves scope, a possible A.M.P. line reunion???

Stephen Holley
Anchorage Daily News

Word has it from some reliable sources that the Wolverines have been involved in some talk with the Colorado Avalanche regarding veteran winger Milan Hejduk, as well as free agent Alex Tanguay.

If true, then the possibility of the A.M.P. Line (comprised of the aforementioned wingers along with Peter Forsberg) being reunited is real.

"Its an interesting thought...but sometimes things that sound really good aren't always the best ideas...I trust management", remarked Peter Forsberg when asked his feelings regarding to playing with his former Colorado wingers.

Swansen Given Green Light

Wolverines CEO and Assistant GM, Dave Swansen, have been given a full green light by Exxon in regards to chasing high-end NHL talent.

Just thought you fans would like to know.

I didn't lose three in a row...I beat the Blues in a shootout, you must have skipped over it. Post #24 has two game updates.

Pretender To Contender; Wolves Land Malkin

The 1-2 Punch of Sydney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin is over in Pittsburgh.

Stephen Holley, NHL Beat Writer
Anchorage Daily News

Last night around midnight, the Anchorage Wolverines went from Pretender to Contender as they landed superstar forward Evgeni Malkin from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Wolverines paid a heavy price to land Malkin, sending Mikkel Boedker, Kyle Turris and a 1st round pick to the Penguins. Both Boedker and Turris have highly projected offensive upside and will almost surely be stars in this league...

but those days are far off.

The Wolverines like the reality of having Malkin and Forsberg in the #1 and #2 center positions.

"It gives us a real good base of attack...The addition of Malkin really gives us a boost"--Wolves CEO, Dave Swansen

Malkin could not yet be reached for comment.

Word out of Pittsburgh is that Crosby is 'relieved' to have the situation come to an end.

New Forward Lines

Prucha-Malkin-Meuller

Doan-Forsberg-Lombardi

Fedoruk-Hanzel-Upshall

Dawes-Fiddler-Lisin
