            Malkin Embraces Anchorage Spotlight

Evgeni Malkin has scored 12 goals in 13 games as an Anchorage Wolverine. Was Malkin capable of 70 goals all along? Stay tuned.

            "Give me the puck."

Those were the first words Evgeni Malkin said when reporters finally had the chance to get the star forwards thoughts on the trade that brought the young phenom to the Wolverines in exchange for cornerstone prospects Mikkel Boedker, Kyle Turris, and a 1st round pick.

Lets just say that recently getting the puck on Malkin's stick has been a really good idea. The Wolverines have scored 8 goals in the last 2 games and Malkin has 7 of them. Thats right, seven.

"His play has really rubbed off on Lombardi and I, it really helps when your center is arguably the best offensive player on the planet", laughed Peter Prucha, who has 5 points and 4 assists in his last two games.

The Wolverines have won 7 of their last 8 and are currently 12-7-1 and 5th in the Western Conference.

"The Wolverines are a serious hockey team. The city of Anchorage has a lot to be proud of", remarked Montreal head coach Jacques Martin after a 5-2 drubbing of his Eastern Conference squad.

Does Anchorage have what it takes to surge through the thickness of the NHL season or will they level off? Stay tuned.

Oh...and whats with Peter's +/-? -15 in 20 games? Different subject for a different day.

If it weren't for the 1st line (namely Malkin) and some good goaltending, this team would be in trouble. I can see through our success. God forbid Malkin get hurt...

the scoring depth hasn't been great lately, thankfully the guys who are finding the net are finding it an awful lot.

makes for a lot of longevity.

As far as my forwards go, this team is reminding me a lot of the Blues early this season. Erik Johnson was leading the team and not a single forward was having a respectable start while great goaltending kept us alive.

That is true! I wasn't even thinking about Erik Johnson and how he was doing for you. I wish you could teach my computer controlled defensemen to shoot the puck more. Mike Green only have 4 goals so far!

Malkin is on fire!!! I feel you on the lack of scoring depth. For stretches I've dealt with only my first line scoring. Then only my second line scores. It's kind of bizarre because I try equally as hard with all four lines. Some nights it just goes in one lines favor.

Maybe a trade or a call-up OBG might spark things. I guess for now really try and protect Malkin or like you said you might be screwed.
