Queen City Hockey | Cincinnati Stingers Dynasty (FHM6)

My Dynasty: I went through the past 5 years and found the teams that have averaged the worst attendance. I decided to relocate the Carolina Hurricanes to Cincinnati to rebirth the old Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA. I also have a Blue Jackets one that I'll still keep runnings but I like living in the fantasy world.

I done a expansion with FHM5 of the Indy Racers and decided to do a relocation this year. It was down to between Cincinnati and Louisville but Cincinnati fits better. They have had hockey more times than not since the 60's (Stingers, Mighty Ducks, Swords, Tigers, Cyclones) ranging from the AHL to IHL to current ECHL. They even had two hockey teams at one point with the Mighty Ducks (AHL) & Cyclones (ECHL) existing at the same time. Louisville couldn't keep a AHL or ECHL team. On to the dynasty.

It was announced today that the Carolina Hurricanes have to been sold to a investment group called Queen City Sports. It was announced the Hurricanes will move to Cincinnati and become the Cincinnati Stingers.

The Stingers last played from 1975-1979 in the WHA. They were one of only 3 teams not to be included in the WHA-NHL Merger (the other two being Birmingham Bulls and the Indianapolis Racers who folded at the start of that WHA season.)

The Stingers will get a revamped version of the old school WHA logo.

The Stingers will wear a jersey very similar to the ones worn in the WHA.

It will feature the "C" logo on the chest of both the home and away with a "Stingers" wordmark on the shoulders.

The Stingers will play in the newly renamed Heritage Bank Center, it has a capacity of 14,453 which puts it as the 2nd smallest arena in the NHL infront of the Nassau Coliseum (13,900) and behind Bell MTS Place (15,321). There was no word at press time on if there are any plans to build a new arena.

CINCINNATI, OH --- Top tier professional hockey is officially back in Cincinnati, even if it was for a meaningless preaseason game. It's the start to a new era in Cincinnati. Unfortunetly fans didn't get to hear the new goal horn or song, as the Blue Jackets shutout the Stingers 1-0.

Lone goal for the Blue Jackets was scored by Vladislav Gavrikov with the assist from Oliver Bjorkstrand. Petr Mrazek stopped 19 of 20 for a .950 save percentage.

Stingers travel to LA tommorow night to take on the Kings.

CINCINNATI, OH --- The Cincinnati Stingers opened their franchise history with a win in 11,680 (not a good start in attendance) at Heritage Bank Center 2-1 over the Montreal Canadiens. It took till the 3rd period for the teams to break the stalemate with Sebastian Aho netting his first goal of the seaosn with the assists going to Martin Necas and Andrei Svechnikov.

Stingers have tomorrow off before heading to the nation capital to take on the Washington Capitals (0-1-0).

CINCINNATI, OH --- The Stingers double up the Lighting, 6-3 here in Cincinnati at the Heritage Bank Center. The Lightning jumped out to a early 2-0 lead before Erik Huala (1) was able to put the Stingers back to within one before the end of the 1st.

Stingers roared back to score 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd (Niederreiter, Hamilton, Staal) to go up 4-2. The Stingers kept the pressure up in the 3rd scoring two more (Niederreiter, Teravainen) in the first 15 minutes of the third. The Lightning were able to net another late in the 3rd but they never got any closer. Reimer sopped 25 of 28 for a .893 save percentage.

SUNRISE, FL --- It took 4 games but the Stingers have finally lost their first game to the Florida Panthers by a score of 1-0. Sam Montembeault stopped 25 of 25 shots to get his first shutout of the season. The Stingers almost got doubled up in the faceboff circle, losing that battle 32-17. The rest of the game was pretty even.

Petr Mrazek stopped 24 of 25. His record falls to 2-1-1.
